I own the Blaze and travel a great deal around the world and it's convenient to have the Blaze get updated time from my phone soon after landing in a new country and syncing to the local time that the watch provides via bluetooth. Wondering if the Ionic does this autonomously, i.e., without a phone...say in a country where my phone does not have service or i don't have a phone plan and just want to have an accurate watch with the local time.

Bill, you are 100% correct. I have had a number of Fitbit devices and am continually frustrated by the companies approach to client feed back, not everyone is a Gen Y, and the Internet does not exist everywhere. I travel a great deal and can not often get Internet access to change the time. The Iconic has GPS, and I was hoping that the company had woken up and at least allowed the watch to auto update is you wanted it to, but alas no. They still do not get the message.
It might be a fitness device, but I still use it like a watch. At least make it operate like a watch.
Unhappy camper, looks like I need to start look around.

Have you tried the link.... Its like communicating with Fitbit... It goes nowhere
Rather than thank me for raising the request, why not have an open discussion about the topic Lets ask the question for example, why do I need to be connected to the Internet to change the time, why not just to the App on the phone? What happens if I move to Europe and decide I do not want Fitbit to collect my data, why do I still need to be connected to the Internet to change the time on my wearable?
Lets have the discussion with someone who can answer the questions..

CCnotGenY, You are spot on. What I'm looking for is a device I can strap on my wrist and it will know where on earth I am, and grab the time signals present on ALL GPS satellites and automatically set my device to the correct local time. I don't want my phone being the intermediary to do this. For example, when I travel around the world, (out of the office to 24 countries this year) I don't always have phone connections to these various countries. I need a smart device which says, Oh look, the watch's time is not correct and just snyc to the correct time. I am actively looking for such a device and if anyone knows of one...let me know...My fitbit will be off the wrist and on ebay in a heartbeat!. So, lets step up the conversation...FITBIT are you listening?????

Hey @SunsetRunner and @Bill_Hunt, it's great to see you around.
I appreciate your feedback about connecting your watch with your phone without the need of the internet, I think it would be great to have an option like this. Unfortunately, there aren't currently plans to release this feature. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released here in our FAQs.
Also, if you want to share more ideas with us feel free to visit our feature suggestions board.
Catch you later.

Yes that is the whole point.
Put all the energy into making different watch faces without thinking about the use of the device.
Really is is so difficult to have an option to set to GPS time? What have you outsourced everything to those with no knowledge or talent. Or here is a radical thought, set the time to that on your phone, without the need to connect to the Internet? Another radical thought - don;t tell me this one s difficult, just don't sent data.
Lets try putting this one on the list.
Fixed.
