GPS NOT connecting - watch freezes up

Hello,

My Ionic is intermittently not able to connect to GPS.  I run the same routes all the time and in the beginning I didnt have any problems. Last week the watch froze up completely.  Luckily I had my phone with me but I bought this watch so I have don't have to have my phone with me. I am training for a marathon and I specifically bought it because of the built in GPS and the ability to store music. At first I thought maybe the watch wasn't able to handle multiple apps open at the same time ( Running app and Pandora) but today I didn't start the music app and it made no difference. At the moment I feel like I have waisted $300 on this watch and Im bummed Im not able to track my runs. Wish I had never bought it. I do Love Fitbits customer service though.

Hey @Truegrit, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! When you select a GPS exercise, Ionic vibrates when it finds a GPS signal. If Ionic doesn't find a signal immediately, keep in mind that environmental factors including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover can interfere with your watch's ability to connect to GPS satellites. For best results, wait for Ionic to find the signal before you start your workout. However, if you don't want to wait you can start your workout and GPS tracking begins when Ionic finds a signal.

Additionally, you can try to restart your Ionic. This might avoid your Ionic from freezing up again:

  1. Press and hold the back (left) and bottom buttons until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen. This should take less than 10 seconds.
  2. Let go of the buttons.
  3. If your Fitbit Blaze, Fitbit Ionic, or Fitbit Versa doesn't work normally, use the instructions in How do I turn off my Fitbit device? to turn your watch off and on again.

Let me know how it goes!

Return it while you can. Even if you get this problem to go away, you're going to have the next one. See https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Ionic/GPS-dies-at-around-7-10-miles-consistently/m-p/2967988.
