GPS does not connect when walking. The GPS is turned on. I tried turning off the device and turning back on. The help articles here refer you to devices where GPS connects by phone. The ionic is suppose to have the GPS built in

The help article for the ionic does not say that it connects to the phone. I think you are saying the ionic is not able to get a lock on enough satellites. Have you done a complete shutdown of the ionic? Not just a software restart?

It's great to have you on the Forums @Marianne7. Thank you for the troubleshooting tried and the details mentioned.

As you mentioned, Fitbit Ionic has built-in GPS. When you select a GPS exercise, Ionic vibrates when it finds a GPS signal. Environmental factors including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover can interfere with your watch's ability to connect to GPS satellites.

For best results, wait for Ionic to find the signal before you start your workout. However, if you don't want to wait you can start your workout and GPS tracking begins when Ionic finds a signal.

Note that Ionic uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a GPS signal. The total distance calculated for a workout may be slightly less accurate when GPS data isn't available for the entire time. For more information, see How accurate is GPS?

Also, reply to the following questions:

- Is it happening only with walking activity?

- Have you tried restarting it

Thanks for your input @Rich_Laue

Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you need further assistance.
