GPS suddenly jumping to wrong location

Over the last two days the GPS on my Ionic has suddenly jumped to a totally incorrect location while I've bee using it to track walks, then it jumps back to the correct location.  Has anyone else had this issue? It has never happened before the last couple of days.

Hey there @Alicat2104, thanks for stopping by! Hmmm... this is very strange my friend. I haven't experienced this neither with my Ionic nor my Charge 2. Are you still having this issue? Smiley Frustrated

If so, please try doing the following:

  • Make sure that your Fitbit app is up-to-date (iOS, Android
  • Log out of your Fitbit app
  • Force quit the app
  • Restart your tracker
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app
  • Try using the GPS feature again

If Ionic doesn't find a signal immediately, keep in mind that environmental factors including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover can interfere with your watch's ability to connect to GPS satellites.

For best results, wait for Ionic to find the signal before you start your workout. However, if you don't want to wait you can start your workout and GPS tracking begins when Ionic finds a signal.

Note that Ionic uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a GPS signal. In this scenario, your total distance calculated for the workout may be slightly less accurate than if GPS data was available for the entire duration. For more information, see How accurate is GPS?

Hope this helps, I'll be around if you need more assistance!

Hi @MarreFitbit

After it had happened the two times I posted I restarted the Ionic and it hasn't happened since thankfully.
