Google Maps Notifications

For the last month or so, I have not been receiving any Google Maps notifications on my Ionic. This is the only application that I am not receiving any notifications on. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Google Maps and removed/re-added the Ionic to my phone. Is anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

I appreciate the reply!

After doing some more troubleshooting, I was finally able to resolve this issue. The main notifications I wanted from Google Maps were the traffic updates. To get it working again, I did the following:

Opened Android Settings > Apps > Application List > Maps > Notifications > Traffic > Nearby Traffic. I changed the Importance from Low to Urgent and enabled Vibrate.

After doing this, I was now getting the notifications on my Fitbit.

@GoW3524 Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with Google Maps notification on Ionic.

Are you still experiencing the same? Did you used to receive those notifications before?

Please check that the Google Maps app needs to be opened on your phone. Also, check that your phone's screen is off while the app is opened for you to receive those notifications.

Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Hi,

using the Map app to display location & map on the Ionic screen is very useful but really slow and cumbersome due to the slow map refresh.

Would very much prefer to save offline maps on the Ionic instead of the option to save music. Is there a way perhaps?

Thanks,

A

This is for the Ionic so I don't know how different the Versa Lite is. Also, I have only used an Android (where notifications only work about 30-40% of the time) so I'm not sure how these changes are made on an iPhone.

First, I enable Maps notifications by opening the Fitbit app and going to Account > Devices > Ionic > Notifications > App Notifications and checking Maps.

I then go into my Android Settings > Apps & notifications > Maps > Notifications. Here, you will select which Maps notifications you want to see. I only want to see notifications for the ETA on my way to Work and Home so I select Your commute > Behavior > Make sound and pop on screen. If you want to see other Maps notifications, you will need to open that notification and change the Behavior to Make sound and pop on screen.
