Hikers need a real elevation function

I am completely disappointed that a device with GPS does not display actual elevation readings.  As an avid hiker in the Southwest USA, I  visit many steep and difficult trails, I would love to look at my watch to track elevation gained and lost.  I don't want to see I climbed "100 floors" when I'm out in a beautiful place like Zion NP!  Come on Fitbit, fix this lame issue!  I bought this watch to replace my broken down 10 year old Timex Ironman with GPS, but this new GPS Ionic lacks the simple elevation features of my 10 year old Timex.

Also give us a real hiking app, not a renamed running app with the exact same features.  An elevation profile inside an hiking app would be great.

PLEASE FIX THE LAME ELEVATION ISSUE, IT'S A GPS DEVICE!

There is an altimeter app in the store. Did you try it?

JayPS in the app store features an altitude graph.  Haven't used it, but it sure sounds like what you're looking for.

Thanks, but that JayPS app is all metric, it doesn't have a setting to change it feet, MPH etc.  Otherwise it might have been good.  I really want to use the FitBit hiking app so that I can view and record my activities on the Dashboard.  Regards.

Thanks. Yes I have found the Altimeter.  I want to see altitude while I am using the Fitbit Hiking app.  Once in the app you can't just jump out to check elevation, you would have to stop the hiking app.  Also, the altimeter seems kind of strange: there is a digital readout on the right hand side and a bar graph on the left side.  The digital readout indicated about 6150 ft while the bar graph said a little over 6400 ft (bar graph more accurate).  I compared to my Garmin Etrex 20x which said 6505 ft.

We really need a hiking app with in-app elevations. Regards.

Totally agree with you.   If they could add elevation gain in Hiking app, that would be amazing

I made a feature suggestion to FitBit for elevation info within the hiking app.

Please go there and vote for this. Please add comments there too if you have other ideas for the hiking app.

Come on FitBit, it is ridiculous that this feature hasn't been added after two years.  The barometric altitude is right there in the device, just add a field the Hike app and show it already.  This is an easy win that would make the Hike app 10x more useful to people who actually go hiking.

Being part of a Fitbit challenge group whose members log steps on a treadmill while I climb steep hill trails etc. isn’t a comparable or fun competition
