It looks pretty big on the 'Zone' clockface. Have you tried that one?

All you need to do is enter the workout mode and then start your workout, that way your heartbeat will beat will be the main big thing on your watch.
Additionally, you can go to the settings wheel in the workout mode and set your display to never turn off.

If you are still looking for the answer you can change the clock face to one called heart heavy. It is the biggest size heart rate in all faces i searched. And i can see w/o readers! You do this in the phone app. Search the manual for how to do this. Hope it helps.
