My Ionic is adding significant steps while sitting on the charger. Like 8,000 to 10,000 for a full charge.
The steps ONLY show up in the step count. They do not show up in the graph, so they are essentially phantom steps. No active minutes are recorded either. Adding a "driving" activity during the charging time DOES NOT remove the steps.
The charger is sitting on a solid wood desk that is very heavy. There are no vibrations, fans, etc to cause the steps. And if it was a physical thing, the steps would show up on the graph and be able to be deleted.
I have changed the setting to dominant wrist. I have restarted the tracker several times. It still happens.
I wear the tracker at all times with the exception of charging, but I can't have 10k steps added twice a week while charging.
How can I remove the steps and what can I do to fix the tracker so it does not do this anymore?
Best AnswerTrying to reach Fitbit support now. Disappointed I can't get any sort of reply here.
I see in other threads this is a common issue and has no posted solution.
May have to return it and look for another tracker.
Best AnswerIt must be a bug!
I have 400 steps at 6:30 (sleeping)
But 100 step test is ok.
But why is Ionic counting while doing nothing?
The test is not the confirmation that everything is OK!!!
Hopefully they fix the bugs soon!
Thank you
Regards
Mark

Is the Fitbit near a vibration source like a fan, dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU? It can see the vibration as steps and add false steps.
You can enter a driving record to get rid of them

Best AnswerWendy. I was very very clear that the tracker is NOT near a source of vibration and that entering a driving activity DOES not remove the steps.
That advice has been regurgitated over and over again and is not helpful for this situation, that is experienced by many here.
These are not real "steps" and they do not show up as such on any of the graphs, so adding a driving activity during a time where no steps were taken does not remove the phantom steps.
Best AnswerIt's a bug.
I put Charge 2 or Ionic on a working washing machine. No steps.
Such answers like esoteric! Not really helpfull!
Or I woild say that error depands on earth rotation! 😉
Best would be to ask Fitbit support when this bug be solved!
