Ionic Band

Hi,

Is anyone else having an issue with the Ionic bands staying connected to the actual unit?  I tried both the bands provided (large and small) and neither will stay connected.  I almost lost the unit b/c one side of the bands came loose.

Luckily, I purchased additional bands from Amazon and those work perfectly fine, but now I'm having an issue with Fitbit wanting to replace the bands without me having to turn in the entire unit.

****I purchased my unit directly from Fitbit & just received it this past Friday afternoon.  😞

I was having similar issues.  It helped, for my at least, to hold down the "release" button/area on each strap, push in tightly, and then release the button/area.

YMMV 🙂

Hello

I purchased my very first Ionic in South Africa on Friday. When I got home the exact same thing happened. The small strap would not stay fitted to the device. Even when I tried to close the band around my arm it simply pulled off. I took it back and the 2nd new Ionic they gave me (which we opened in the store) did the very same thing. The store will be sending them back and I wont be purchasing a 3rd until I know for sure this has been sorted out.

Hi, @MsKaya, I would suggest keep playing with it a bit and definitely don't put it on until you can tug on the band without it coming loose.

I found one side of mine was a little tricky to get it to click in place, but once it was in, it was firmly in.

Hopefully this will help.

I've also noticed that while it may seem the band is connected properly, sometimes it isn't.

You will hear an audible "click" when it is connected properly.

Thanks all but it didn't work. Myself and two different store workers both
tried the bands and tugged on them and re-fitted them. They didn't even
stay clipped in tightly enough to with stand a tug. This is not a fitment
issue its a fault. They have apparently had more complaints.

It would be interesting to see if a different band would have the same issue to help determine whether it was an issue with the band or the Ionic.

Absolutely and it didn't seem to be an issue with the large strap only the
smaller one in both boxes. So could very well be a strap issue. The problem
in SA is that we don't have any other straps available yet for sale in
country nor the wireless headphones. Guess we will have to wait a while
longer.

Have you tried purchasing cheap bands from third party sites like Amazon? If you do that and there is still an issue, the problem may be with the Ionic.

The band design is horrible. It can slide easily under tension.

There is something wrong with the bands, and Fitbit won’t deal with it.  They told me to send the whole watch back at my expense rather than just send me a band that works.  One side of the small band is flawed on mine.

Hi there,

I am having the same issue!

I have not even worn my new Fitbit yet, because I am worried that I will lose it due to the bands disconnecting from the watch.

So you had luck with other bands? Which ones stay on?

I've ordered 5 "cheap" loop magnetic metal bands from Amazon.

All the bands work on the 4 Ionics in my family,

but the stock small & large bands have also worked fine.

UPDATE to my post.

Since I ordered mine directly online, Fitbit wanted me to send back the entire unit, which I did not want to do.  So, luckily, the bands I purchased from Amazon have worked wonderfully.  I have different colors and no issues with them connecting to the unit on the first try or staying strong.

I attempted to try YET AGAIN, the bands from Fitbit, that came with the unit, and I had a little success. I had to get forceful for them to stay properly connected. I'm still scared that they will come loose again so have been using the Amazon bands instead.

I escalated a complaint due to the experience I had but haven't received a response yet.

Hello. I was refunded by the store that I purchased it from, as for the price of the device I didn't want to take the risk. We do not have a Fitbit store in SA. The retailer has told me that they will advise their supplier. I would rather wait personally until the problem is fixed before I attempt to purchase one. I'm glad though that Fitbit has been made aware of the problem.

While they are aware, they don't seem to want to deal with it. They told
me I could mail it back at my expense and in a few weeks I would get a
replacement.

It made me so mad and their reaction to the issue, coupled with the
problems with syncing. I moved to an Apple watch.

Here it is July 2019 and FitBit has still not fixed the problem.  I came on here because I just got mine and wore it for the first time today and what you complained about is the exact problem I have.  Took it off.  Put it back in.  Heard the click.  Tugged.  Wouldn't come out.  Then put it back on and there is went again.  Now I am sorry I went with another fitbit.  I have had issues with every one I have had except the Aria.  But, my health insurance won't sync with anything else.  😞
