Ionic Bluetooth Connectivity Problems

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I had a Ioninc that wouldn't record my flights properly. Sent it in to Fitbit and they've replace my device with a new one.  I received my replacement Ionic. I must admit my level of frustration now with this replacement as it is, is worse off than the previous one.

The Bluetooth doesn’t stay connected and is intermittent.  I managed to get the Ionic setup with its initial firmware update and set it up with app. Seems fine....but

Then it wasn’t connecting to my iPhone 6s trying to sync the device. So I removed the device from the app and went to re add it. It gets to where I have to punch in the pairing number and then hangs forever on Connecting to Fitbit. I can force close the app and restart and go through the add device steps and again it hangs after I enter the pairing code.

I eventually did a factory reset on the Ionnic and got it all setup again.  I left it for the night and got up this morning to sync it to see my sleep.

I noticed in the app the heart rate monitor was stopping and going intermittently and it was not syncing and my sleep was not being shown.  Like the connection to the device was working then not and then after a few seconds it would kick in again but never really sync.

I removed the Fit app from my phone and re installed it.  Still nothing, turned Bluetooth off and on again and notihng. So I removed the device to add it again from the App and again I am stuck at CONNECTING TO FITBIT  just hanging there.

I do not want to factory reset this device because if I do it takes 2 hours to get it to download the firmware. On top of that the wifi feature doesn’t work and I have to firmware update through Bluetooth. Same as what I had to do with my old device. This is ridiculous!!!!

I am honestly pissed that I gave my Charge 2 and Flex 2 device up for this $400 piece of crap. I honestly thought Fitbit was better than this.  I am in no way pleased with how this is turning out.

I did a factory rest, removed the device from my phone several times. It worked maybe for a day. I did not buy the apple because I thought it was too expensive. Wish I would have just gotten the apple because now I am like you, out of $300 and no watch

So,

Could we have some form of update from Fitbit about this?  I have a pretty useless piece of expensive junk that can't connect via it's only method of connecting......Bluetooth.   It's even useless as a watch as it syncs time with your phone but loses time after days of not being able to sync,  Useless!!!

Same here.

It has been several weeks now that I can't get my Ionic to sync. Bluetooth hardly ever functions.

I'm unable as well to update to OS2, be it through bluetooth or wifi.

And yes Fitbit, I've tried all of your troubleshooting items at least once.

Don't seem to be the only one waiting for a clear explanation by Fitbit.....

Same Here.  Great watch when it works.  My Ionic will not receive notifications at all.  It will sync, but that is all.  Returned the first one and replacement performs the same.  Spent hours working with Fitbit customer service without resolution,  All I am told is that bluetooth bonding problems are a known issue and fitbit is working on it......  Any day now would be great.  I will be returning this unit as well before expiration of the grace period if it is not resolved quickly.  I am done with spending any more of my time in an attempt to get this unit to work.  As I said I love the unit if it works.

Hi, I am experiencing the same problem with my surge and ionic. the bluetooth doesnt seem to work. tried to sync my data from my tracker to my mobile fitbit app but to no avail. any solutions?

Hi

there is no solution. It is not a bug(software issues) that causes problem. It is a fundemental design and implementation  problem. It is the core design that has not been implemented properly . I gave my ionic watch back , got new one,  but I still get connection issues thought not as bad as the previous  one but still the issue is there. I believe Fitbit exposed its quality of its watches .  The watch software does not integrate properly with the app. It is not a bug , it is an implementation problem .

I was able to get my ionic to work last night by force stopping my Nokia
health app as well as unpairing everything bit the ionic. I will see how
stable it is for a day or so and add back items slowly. I also unpaired my
Nissan leaf as well and in the process I noticed that it had access to
messages. I will let you know how it goes.

I used the link and no luck in getting my ionic to connect to my iPhone 8. I have removed the tracker from the app. Removed and reinstalled the app. Turn the tracker off and on. Rebooted the tracker. Factory reset the tracker. Restarted my phone. Removed all other Bluetooth devic s from my settings.

I cant get past the 4 digit verification.

Same here. Bluetooth connectivity is horrible, and has always been horrible for the 6 months I've owned this watch. Factory reset will work for a week or so, then the fun starts all over again. Ridiculous.

I'm having major issues with the Ionic.  Its crashed my phone.  It wont pair.  Its tripled my steps.  And it wont pair with my scale.  I had the Charge 2 and had ZERO issues.

Same issues here! Was fine until the latest update. Bluetooth isn’t working at all. I don’t mind syncing issues but it’s a pricey bit of kit!!

Fitbit are finally sending me a replacement, why can’t they just see their is a problem

with this product. I had the Fitbit one.....no problems......then the Fitbit Surge no problems. This has been an awful product. Saying that though my partner has the ionic Adidas edition and that has had no issue.

What's super messed up is... I returned my Ionic. Then bought the Versa. It's doing the same junk. Over steps. Wont connect. Disconnect ns permanently from apps that it has no business disconnecting (Yunmai scale).

I am having the same issue. Now I cant even change my clock face. Tried factory reset. Used my phone, a tablet and windows app. keep getting connection errors. Very frustrating because I want to like the product but it is full of bugs.

I have that problem when I use Android smartphone or Win 10 App.

Of course the other BT connection is off!

If I use the Ionic only with Android I have no problems.

But only using Android app is not possible because music transfer is still not possible!

I hope Fitbit is going to improve the BT connection.

All my other BT devices are working without such connection problems!

Only Fitbit has these problems.

Looking forward for bugfixes!

Regards

Mark

I just started reading this forum and now I'm glad it's not me. This all started after the last FW update. Has anyone gotten a solution from anyone? Thanks for the help...

Nope. Actually completely lost my lovely Yunmai scale. So sad they want to have certain items blocked.
