Please post a picture or describe in detail the charger cable and how it attaches to the Ionic.
That will probably be the determining factor for me. Thanks.

The charger looks pretty simple. It's just a cable similar to the surge, but is held in place with magnets instead of a clip.

@MsBobbieO To add to @USAF-Larry's suggestion, here is the unboxing video exactly at the point where he shows is showing the charging cable and how it connects to the Ionic.
Thanks to all for your responses. Watched the Unboxing.
Based on the type of charging mechanism, as much as I really like the Ionic, I'll hold off to see Ionic user feedback on the reliability (stamina) of the charger area on the unit itself.
I have an Alta now and it is, so far, the only model that the charger area on the band itself has lasted; my other FitBits with what look to be a similar charging system to the Ionic snapped and/or broke in a very short time.
As the saying goes, twice bitten .....
But I really do like the Ionic.
Hey MsBobbieO
the Charger connection on the Ionic is very reliable because of the magnetic coupling. I’ve only had mine for a couple months though it looks to be a very stable design. Give it a try and post back your results. Thank you
I had to send in for repair my Ionic the second time last week.
The first time, the display stayed black. Acces via iPhone was still working.
The second time, charging was not possible any more.
Sad 😣, I had to send in my watch for the second time.
I think a qi chargeable watch would be more reliable.
