Ionic Completely Shut Down After Swim

Very disappointed about the Ionic.  I went swimming laps with it about a month ago, which is something this product is supposed to be able to do.  It was the first time I dared take it in the water after working out with it for a while.  Two days later it started acting crazy and eventually totally shut down.  I talked to online chat support.  They assured me that there was nothing that could be done.  I was 4 weeks past the 365 day period.  This was an expensive product.  They did not offer the opportunity to send it back to see it could have been defective, which definitely seems to be the case.  I did nothing with it that was out of the ordinary.  They offered me a 25% discount on a new one.  I have no interest in going through the process of purchasing a new multi hundred dollar FitBit every year or having to challenge it's ability to do what it is supposed to with tech support. Although it is advertised as being able to go in the water and has a swimming setting on it, mine totally got destroyed.  Plus,  if you are past day 365, they won't even allow you to mail it back in to check to see if it is, in fact, defective.  I was offered 25% discount by the person I online chatted with, but still don't feel I should have spend another couple of hundred dollars on a product that fizzed out the very first time I swam with it...

Welcome to the Community @bflaherty1610. Sorry for the delayed reply.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Ionic and our Support team.

I appreciate the time you took to share your feedback regarding the quality of our Fitbit devices, comments from users are always useful to continue to improving the quality of products and services.

It is particularly difficult when the device is no longer covered by the warranty, but even tough Support is eager to help with any problem you may experience with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, this would start counting from the original date of purchase.

I'll be around if you need further assistance.
