Ionic Device life span?

I’m curious as to the official party line for the ionics expected device life span?

I’ve had 2 now, and both have stopped working.

now that I’m out of warranty, the best Fitbit will do is offer me a discount on another product.

However, this forum is littered with users who are complaining of faulty devices, many with similar issues too, and lots with issues with the firmware bricking devices.

Has there been any acknowledgement at Fitbit internally in regards to these constant issues? Is there a known fault with the firmware? Is there a large fault batch of ionics that have been shipped and now it’s too late to resolve?

3+ years. Hows the battery life?

This should be the norm for any smart watch, with a non-replaceable battery. 3-5 years.

If only one of the current crop of manufacturers had a user-replaceable rechargeable battery. Now that would be a selling point, as long as the electronics lasted and sofware support continued.

You've been very lucky. Mine lasted months rather than years. Almost a year later and still have had no complaint resolution from Fitbit. My new tracker works really well. I miss the fitbit challenges, I really liked and miss the prompts of the challenges, but it's more important to have a tracker that actually works and is useful.

this sounds identical to my experience with my Fitbit Ionic. It has suddenly stopped taking a charge - in spite of using 2 genuine Fitbit Ionic re-charge cables. It has never been abused or damaged in any way. When I try to charge it, a red outline of a dead battery appears briefly then dies. I've fiddled with the cable/watch connection to the point where the face indicates that it is charging, but when returning after an hour or so, the watch still shows that the battery is dead. Perhaps it is simply a dud or dead battery??

If Fitbit could advise me I would appreciate it. I live in Cape Town.

My first Ionic lasted eight weeks and the screen suddenly went blank. Always well maintained and never wet - applied all troubleshooting steps and talked thru same steps by tech support, gonzo.  Replacement sent under warranty, this one lasted19 months with only minor and resolvable issues until one day it wouldn’t stay connected to iPhone via Bluetooth and the battery started crashing with two day max life.  Outside warranty, bought a Charge 4 to replace the second Ionic but it was DOA out of the box and has been returned under warranty.  Awaiting its replacement but considering that the average lifespan of my last three Fitbit devices has been seven months, I’m not overly optimistic.

I'm on my second replacement as well.  Way past warranty now.  I am having charging issues, despite using the genuine Ionic cables.  Now it is not tracking my steps, no matter how many times I reset the watch.  Getting tired of this.  Time to move on to a different tracker.
