Fitbit Update: Fitbit OS2.1 has been released to 100% of users!
Hi all!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 2.1! (Firmware Version: 27.32.10.15)
We've started to roll out this update to 10% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it within a few weeks. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT’S NEW
Introducing quick replies. Send customized responses to text messages and messages from select messaging apps with your Fitbit watch. Note that this feature is currently only available on watches paired to an Android phone. For more information, see How do I respond to messages with my Fitbit watch?
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here.
I recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Ionic, I can also recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Wow, thanks for the quick response.. To be aware is wonderful... I'm still waiting for my update..
I will need to work on that because I control my email from my ISP server and it doesn't sound workable if I have to "not delete" important emails on the Ionic... I use the phone to monitor my emails and delete the unimportant ones which in turn cleans up my mail on the ISP server.
It will be interesting to see how the 30 maximum notifications and the, delete all at 24 hours affects emails..
Does deleting from the watch move the emails into the Phone's trash box ?

Hi Colin,
It's possible since app update 2.71.
You have to active every app where you want to have a notification.
This is working well. I use GMX and other e-mail program and a PIM programm where I get message when I should take my pills. 😉
Regards,
Mark

@Colinm39 no. It just clears them from your watch memory.

I was just going to ask if any model had the ability to read Sp02 levels. No need to purchase. Thank you

Google The translation is from Google translator Why everything should be made by the phone application to change the clock time to update Wi-Fi and from the phone add these things in the clock most WiFi and the two cards can not be triggered at least with me. Make the phone use at least everything to do with the clock as it is with others. I hope you do something about it, otherwise applications are meaningless in the clock

Will this new firmware update resolve the watch face blue tooth connectivity and Fitbit weather city selection issues? Is there any possibility on the horizon where we could use the Fitbit software, but with Apple Watch hardware or other non-Fitbit watch hardware device?
My current issue is that the Big Weather watch face by OziByte.com doesn't update the current temperature, despite setting to continually update. The watch face company says that the issue is intermittent blue tooth connectivity caused by the last firmware update. At present the only way to update the temperature is to press the right button, wait 3 seconds, then press the left button, then rotate the watch to turn on the screen, then count down 5 seconds till the temperature updates, which is nuts...
Additionally, the Fitbit weather app will no longer allow you to pick a city, and so there is no weather information displayed. Instead is says to sync (which has no effect.)...
I've had to reinstall everything from top to bottom maybe 5 - 6 times since I bought the watch in February, and I'm getting really tired of it. The nonstop issues are wearing me down. Will this new firmware update resolve the blue tooth connectivity and Fitbit weather city selection issues?
I'm increasingly frustrated with Fitbit devices. Before the Iconic I had a Surge. I came so close to buying an Apple Watch series 3, but stuck with Fitbit despite the manufacturing issues with the Surge, because the software has been so useful (I've lost 87 lbs). Is there any possibility on the horizon where we could use the Fitbit software, but with Apple Watch hardware or other non-Fitbit hardware device?
Thank you,
Todd

I updated successfully on Friday. However, since then, my GPS tracked activities (runs, bikes) aren't showing up in Strava. I've gone through all the suggestions of revoking access, reauthorizing access, uninstalling and installing both the Fitbit & Strava apps, etc...
My activities show up in the Fitbit app on my iPhone SE but aren't appearing in the Strava app. Is anyone else experiencing this?

So I posted about three issues: blue tooth watch face connectivity, Fitbit Weather not allowing me to pick a city, and whether or not the Fitbit software may someday be allowed to run on a non-fitbit watch device. It was reasonably worded and addressed real issues. My question appears to have been erased as spam? WHY?!? It is NOT spam! Why can't I even ask questions about issues with the devices?!? Please tell me this is just another mistake... 😞
I've saved my questions this time in case I have to repost again...

@SunsetRunner wrote:How do we get more detail than "other bug fixes and improvements"?
This update is larger in size than the 2.0 update and the firmware revision when from
27.31.01.16 for FitbitOS 1.1
27.31.01.29 for FitbitOS 1.2
27.32.04.19 for FitbitOS 2.0
27.32.10.15 for FitbitOS 2.1
From FitbitOS 1.1 to 1.2 we has a 0.0.0.13 increase and this added improved GPS, and a number of other listed bug fixes for time zone switching (still not working very well), exercise issues, etc. Yet from 2.0 to 2.1 all we are told is "other bug fixes and improvements" and the android quick replies. for a 0.0.6.x increase. Why can't we know what is actually fixed? Or is this firmware number change just to sync them with the Versa? Most other smart watches release monthly updates until the bugs are mostly taken care of with the exception of right before a new major release, Fitbit has never been close to that release schedule and there are definitely bugs to fix and improvements to be made.
It makes no sense to have more then three version numbers at all anyway which would be major_version.minor_version.bugfix
And since they use two wildly different schemes here anyway (which just confuses people -> 2.1 == 27.32.10.15) I don't think these internal version numbers (27.x.x.x) are anything you can relate to in any way. You cannot even derive a real mapping between those internal version numbers and the externel version numbers (2.1).
We can only hope they get it right and it is not a chaos. I doubt that a bit for many reasons. One is the music controls. Why does every $20 BT-Headset manage flawless music controls on EVERY Android device with changing contexts (I can control the music in the last app that I have used) and Fitbit argues with something like "your device must be supported?" It is not about the device. They all run Android or iOS (On iOS the story is a bit different because of Apple policies though). So imho it is really really really bad software design. Why do we need two bluetooth connections for music controls anyways?
Regarding the missing changelog you must know that Fitbit is just another legacy company where the devs might want to create a good product but management hinders them in every way and that destroys basically everything. I have worked for such companies and this never ends well. The outcome is always subpar products and unhappy customers and devs blamed for things they cannot change.
They have bought the Pebble IP and some devs but I cannot see anything that reminds me of Pebble in even a remote way software wise. The problems FitbitOS has are solved on a Pebble with less sophisticated and much smaller software. I might give this one more software update but then I will sell my Ionic.
And now please Fitbit delete my comment again, like you always do, because it is irrelevant or whatnot .... Customer opinions that express dissatisfaction should always be ignored because that solves anything. But in case you have not heard yet: One unsatisfied customer drives away up to ten potential customers. But that was before the internet. Now with the internet it might be more that are driven away from that product....and you have alot of unhappy customers, just saying.
Wrote this while wearing my Pebble again since it "Just Works"(TM)

Well it hasn't been pushed to mine yet and my Ionic is basically useless right now. Waste of $250. Worked FINE until I update the firmware a few days ago. Now it won't count steps properly because it can't calibrate. I've literally been walking around all morning and I have only 27 steps.
I did a factory reset...didn't help the problem. Sensors can't calibrate. They don't stay on. They flash for a few seconds but then thats it. This device worked FINE before I flashed it. Very frustrated!!!
(I'm an IT person, so I'm very tech savvy)

Also, the heartrate monitor doesn't work.
Just talked to a tech - the new firmware hasn't been pushed out to my device yet so they can't replace it. So basically I have an expensive ugly watch strapped to my wrist.
Oh yeah...the battery drains really fast now. Used to last 3-4 days. I took it off the charger at midnight last night - and its now at the halfway point.
I think this will be my last fitbit product. This problem was handled horribly.
Spending 20 years in Information Technology - you guys have a "sandbox" to test your products - I don't see how you could have EVER released this piece of junk firmware knowingly. Piss poor development team! Quality assurance anyone?

My Ionic hasn't updated since this "new" release and now it will not sync. Seems Ionic has several issues that need to be resolved. After I have removed and trying to reconnect it now says "found it" and has said that for the last hour. So frustrating

I have the message to update. So I connect the Ionic to my Wifi and start the update... it says it can take a while and then nothing happens. After an hour it says the update failed and this happens time and time again. Restarted phone and watch, nothing helps. Followed all the troubleshooting steps: nothing.
Last time I got it done by returning the watch to factory settings and update it through the setup, but this can't be right, can it? Then I have to setup all the little preferences again each time I have an update. How to proceed?

I can not get this to update. Won't work on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. And it won't let me sync my fitbit at all. Hasn't synced since May 2nd.

When are we going to have a fix for this annoying “Recallibrate” issue???

you are not.. the new function is not a fitness watch.. its a recalibration reminding service.. to recalibrate internally from now on

I've had ionic from November last year, I've lived through many firmware updates, patiently waited for deezer, but now I'm really tired of this buggy watch and this firmware is the last one I'm trying. Some of the essential bugs are the following: swimming lap counting stops after certain time and only full system reset and reinstallation fixes the issue; music playback and cycling doesn't work, i.e. after some time exercise app crashes with music playback in the background. It's a pity that they allow for these bugs to go unfixed for such a long time. Well anyways, last chance Fitbit, there is plenty of attractive alternatives out there.

I've had my Ionic a few days and am about to return it because of the useless notifications controls. Is there any way to get this faster so I can see if it makes the device useful enough to keep, before the return period runs out?

This calibration issue has gone on much longer than necessary and it’s *crickets* from Fitbit
