Ionic GPS tracking error - losing connection

Since the latest update (v27.70.8.0) my ionic has developed a gps tracking fault, c8km into a run. Initially there are no issues; I am able to connect to gps & start my run but I lose god connection every time:

This has happened multiple (every) time since the last update a couple of weeks ago;

I’ve tried different routes - same issue;

I’ve reset the Ionic but the issue remains.

I’ve even ran with only with my iPhone (Strava App) tracking my run, which works without issue (not acceptable as I purchased the ionic with its in-built gps specifically to avoid this).

Is this a known issue? Any advice would be gratefully received.

I’ve had the same issue as well, it tends to happen around 45 minutes into a run for me.  It used to lose connection and then re-establish connection if I was along a hillside.  Now it just loses connection when in good open space and the watch bugs out and won’t reconnect at all, which means if you aren’t paying attention your run isn’t tracked.

I too getting frustrated with the GPS losing connection & on searching mode after a few km on clear & open space. I have to use the runkeeper on my phone that is not right to pay for a GPS watch does not work. I have disconnected, off the phone...still frustrated.

Thanks for the reply. Hadn’t considered this could be an elapsed time thing rather than distance.

I went out for a run earlier today & paid close attention to my ionic to see if/when it lost GPS connection. Answer: 40:43, 8.13km
