I 'm typically a walker and new to this forum.
Please, can I ask;
1. Do I need to do something at the start of my walk to be able to view a map later? .i.e. Exercise (app, on watch)? Use run as there's no walk option?
2. Does the Ionic not start tracking (to allow future view) after 15mins?
3. How do I view the walk as a map?
Thanks in advance.
Best Answer1. Yes, I would recommend you turn on a GPS exercise if you want to see a map later. As mentioned by sfringer below, there is a walk GPS option so I would select that in the exercise shortcuts menu and then that will be on your ionic to use it.
2. My understanding is that automatic exercise tracking will not turn on the GPS. And since it would only turn on 15 minutes into your walk, you wouldn't have a complete map of your walk unless you manually turn on the GPS exercise before beginning.
3. To view the walk as a map, after manually logging it, you can see it in the fitbit app after syncing or on the fitbit website (again, after syncing the fitbit.)
Best AnswerYou should be able to add "Walk" as an option for the Exercise app. (It's listed in my Exercise app)
Within the Fitbit app, tap your Ionic in the top right.
Scroll down and choose "Exercise Shortcuts"
Tap the '+' to add a new shortcut and choose "Walk"
Re-order as desired.
Next time you launch the Exercise app on your Ionic, Walk should be an option and start a GPS-tracked walk.
Yep, just realized I missed that. No idea how. I blame being asleep.

Hello @Heato, it's good to see you around in the forums for the first time. And thank you for sharing all this information and details @Gregerator and @SunsetRunner.
Could you please confirm if you were able to find the option to track your walk activity and see the map later in the app?
As it was mentioned previously, GPS activities with map information are tracked using the workout mode or exercise app, you can find all the details in these articles:
I hope this helps.
Best AnswerGlad you got it!!! Happy walking 🙂
