The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.
Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving notifications.
This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.
Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it. And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

All of the "fixes" only work on a temporary basis. Notifications stop working in a few hours with iPhone 6s. I have tried every fix in the forums. Need a real fix. I can't spend all day re-fixing notifications. The ionic worked fine until they decided to create 2.0. Wish I could go back to the original firmware. It worked. The updates don't.

UPDATE: Checked out the suggested forum to check all my settings and somehow my notifications was turned off (It was always on in the past). Appears to be solved for the time being.
I am also having the same issue. It's been a problem since the first time I updated my Ionic. I can see the notifications when I pull down on the screen, but that doesn't really help if someone is calling and my phone is at my desk. There is no vibration or alert on the actual screen for calendar events, phone calls, or text messages. I have an Apple iPhone 8. I tried doing some suggestions from a previous forum to no avail.

When the ionic was first released it actually worked. I was able to receive notifications. It was after fitbit decided to go with 2.0 that the notifications no longer function. Please don’t tell me to try the “fixes” in the forum. I have tried them all repeatedly and the only work for minutes maybe at best a few hours. Fitbit needs so fix this ASAP. If the Apple Watch had sleep tracking it would buy it tomorrow. When will fitbit listen to their customers and fix this issue?

I just got the Ionic a couple of days ago and after many tries I got it sync Notifications from everything BUT phone calls or Messages. And they do not show up in the Notifications list to select even after I receive a call or text. O this is so frustrating. Spend $300 on a piece of xxxx

Completed the update last night. Still no texts or phone calls. I jumped through all the hoops. Very frustrating to say the least.

I've had just about as much as I can stomach of FitBit. It's a shame. I really like the Ionic but the basic, basic issues it has have not yet been resolved, despite months of promises. The fact that Fitbit can't sort out something as basic as syncing is very disappointing. My Ionic will just sync when it feels like it, sometimes going for a couple of days without syncing. Why spend a good deal of money and then have to restart/reset/uninstall etc the watch all the time, why can't it just work? I've never known any type of Bluetooth product that struggles so much with something so integral to its operating.
I will be returning the watch. If it can't sync, there is absolutely no point in having it.

Another frigging update today (6/9/18)!!
Now, "Sent Test Call Notification" has quit working! I am guessing that all my notifications no longer work. So, for over a month now, I lost text notifications. Today whatever remained has been removed.
Fitbit has lost me as a customer!!
To bad for them, because I have bought a lot of their products over the years.

The ios app update that was released yesterday seems to have fixed the problem. After I downloaded the app update, I deleted the ionic from Bluetooth, opened the app and reconnected the ionic. Since then I have been receiving the notifications. This may have been the fix I was waiting for.

Even after the latest firmware update about a week ago, I'm still not having any luck receiving text message notifications from the message+ app on my ionic. I receive notifications for messenger, the weather, instagram, phone calls....just not messages. I have a Samsung S7.

So, I was among the group that had notifications not working for last month at least, and looks like after latest update, 2 days ago, they work now... Call notification is still delayed, sometimes 5 second, sometimes 15, but at least it's coming.
But, what happens to me now, and never happened before, is that, since the update, watch has already frozen 2 times...
It doesn't react to anything, any button press, and the only thing I can do is to press and hold combination of buttons to perform reset.
First time, 2 days ago, I thought it was random, but now it happened again, and I know now it's related to the update...
So please, solve it, as finally looks like, at least in my case, notification issue has been solved...
