Does anyone know how to fix a fitbit ionic when the screen shows a magenta triangle with a magenta exclamation mark through it? There are no lights on the back, neither the two button nor the three button resets will fix the problem. It has been charged overnight that hasn't help?

Unfortunately mine was 2 months past warranty. I really wish they knew why it did it? So you had 2 do this to you and are now on your third one?

@Ldwahr Thank you for participating in our Fitbit Community! I'm sorry to hear that your Ionic showed a triangle with an exclamation mark. I'm also sorry to hear that it's no longer under warranty. I know how frustrating this is for you and I appreciate your feedback and comments since this helps us to keep improving.
Please visit this page for more information about the warranty policy.
@Cmckinney Thank you for sharing your feedback.

What more information do I need to know about the warranty? Is there a special note that does cover my 14 month old Ionic? I know your just thanking me for sharing my experience but seems pretty pointless to include a link that really isn't going to be of any help to me.

My wife and I have both purchased multiple fitbit devices over the last few years (2 each). My wife's Ionic recently had this triangle! problem and is now non-responsive. I contacted fitbit support and they had me try a few fixes (clean the contacts, check for green flashing light) but to no avail. They indicated that since it was 14 months from my purchase date that they could do nothing about the 12 month warranty, which is interesting since I had just had my ionic replaced 1 month prior (13 months old) due to another problem. They replaced that one at no cost, which I appreciated. It seems like these are designed to function for just over a year. I'd definitely recommend purchasing the extended warranty if you buy a fitbit. Otherwise don't bother as they are $$$ and will have to be replaced yearly. I will not be purchasing any further fitbit devices.

I'm having this same problem. My fitbit stopped working one day. I have been trying to update the firmware to 3.0, as required, it got half way through and not all I get is the triangle. I can't restart, reset, or do anything.

After I spoke so highly of customer service. My replacement one just stopped working. This time, no warning signs. It just shut off and will not turn back on.
While I love the product, when it works, it cost too much to be going out once a year.
I guess its time to find an alternative. Sad as I have been in the fitbit family for many years.

My wife's Ionic also just crapped out with the triangle and exclamation point, just beyond the warranty period. We had a similar experience with Support, who was responsive but unwilling to deviate from whatever policy has been set by the company's leadership. We don't understand why Fitbit feels no obligation to replace devices that are less than 18 months old, and fail after you a flawed OS update causes the device to fail, or worse yet, if the devices are designed to fail shortly after the warranty. We have purchased multiple Fitbit devices over the past several years, but appears we are also going to seek another platform if the products are going to fail every 15 months. Stand behind your products, folks.

Mine did the same thing 4 months past warranty and no help from Fitbit except to offer a discount on a New Ionic. This after I have had a Fitbit since before the first charge. And every Fitbit I have had has been replaced at least once under warranty. I should have realized before now the devices are designed to fail and eventually it will be out of warranty. Now they have lost my business for good.

There is no next step, unfortunately this means it’s dead. If you are lucky enough to be under warranty they will replace it, otherwise you are like the rest of us and just screwed. I suggest we all ship our dead devices back to the ceo of Fitbit and flood their office with dead devices!

That is such a good idea.
nd if you are like the rest of us, you are sadly going towards the direction of no longer going with fitbit.
Hopefully you are within your warranty time m then you will have at least 1 more year until that one breaks.

Wow! Same issue here. Suddenly stopped working over night and tried the factory reset after it wouldn’t restart and got the same Magenta Exclamation Point. Also 4 months out of warranty. Almost like these are set up with planned obsolescence. Was thinking of ordering a new Fitbit but now I wonder. Hmm. Sad that they don’t have an answer for this. Very disappointing.

Total BS! I've searched threads about this issue all day. I've got to admit...it's time to get away from fitbit. 2nd watch, 1st Ionic and it's really sad it has come to this. Like others have shared, I've babied mine and I'm just over the 1-yr warranty area. Funny how my fitbit app just updated to 2.94 before reading more threads looking for a fix or any kind of acknowledgment they made a mistake. Just Wow! Good luck to everyone owning a fitbit and it still works.
