I have an Ionic and recently upgraded my phone to a Samsung Galaxy 9+.
After successfully receiving call, text, and Gmail notifications with my Galaxy 9+ for the past month, I suddenly stopped receiving Gmail notifications. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the Fitbit app, unpairing/pairing the Ionic, turning off/on the call/text/gmail notifications, etc. and nothing is working.
I spent about an hour on the phone with Fitbit support the other night and didn't get any help - the support representative wasn't entirely knowledgeable and, at the end of the hour, declared, "Well the Galaxy 9+ is not compatible." I explained that I did receive notifications for a month with the 9+ before my Ionic suddenly stopped receiving Gmail notifications. He then said, "Well I think everyone is experiencing connectivity issues now anyway."
Any suggestions for trying to get my Ionic to receive Gmail notificaitons?

@PLMNYC Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for reporting the situation you are experiencing with Ionic not receiving Gmail notification from your Samsung Galaxy 9+. Also, thanks for trying those steps in order to sort this out, it's unfortunate to read that customer support wasn't able to resolve this for you.
Are you still experiencing the same? Are the only notifications not received from Gmail? Are you receiving any other notification?
It is certain that the Samsung Galaxy 9+ does not appear on the list of supported devices. This may be one of the reasons this inconsistency is happening. However, as you were receiving notification before; I'd like you to try the following:
Please check this helpful article for more details on the steps above. This should certainly help you out with this.
Try that out and let me know how it goes!

I'm having the exact same problem. Have a Galaxy S9+ and an Ionic which was receiving notifications fine until a week or two ago. Now I can get notifications to my Ionicn for calls and texts, and some apps such as Facebook and whatsapp. However Gmail, Amazon and BBC news notifications do not come through to my watch even though they appear on my phone and these app selected for notifications on the Fitbit app.
Have tried all the troubleshooting and have had email "support" too. Troubleshooting advice to remove Ionic from Bluetooth, reset notifications etc did not work. Email advice was useless. Basically told me Galaxy S9 was not supported and did not meet hardware requirements!
As the notifications were working OK before this is clearly wrong. I seem to remember this all started just after Fitbit solved a separate issue. A week or so ago Fitbit apps were not showing up in the Fitbit app. After Fitbit solved this problem it seems that notifications are broken for some apps.
Any suggestions beyond standard troubleshooting would be very much appreciated.

I found that messages sometimes do not auto delete and fill up the buffer/cache. If you delete all messages from watch it should start receiving notifications again.
