Ionic Tracking HR and steps when not wearing

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Long time Fitbit user, got a new Ionic for Christmas. Setup and update went fine.

Used it at the gym today, and noticed the HR was way off... my HR taken by my nurse wife was 68 bpm, Ionic say 130bpm.... yes it was worn high away from the wrist.

I get home and take if off to shower, I notice the HR light still going... the watch and app are counting my HR at 138 BPM, and I AM NOT EVEN WEARING IT. Did a factory reset, set it up again, and guess what... still showing a high heart rate, even though it is on a marble counter top not near anything or experiencing any vibration. My Charge 2 does not exhibit this behavior.

Guess this is another out to soon beta test... anyone else seen this?

So... 4 hours of tech support... and Im told.... guess it must be defective. I exchanged it for another one at Amazon... and guess what?? Same exact scenario. I had to return it, despite tech support saying "we know there are some problems, but it should be fixed in a future update if you will only be patient and wait". ... Sorry, I cant pay to be a beta tester.

Great ideas, but immature product that must have been rushed out the door for the Christmas revenue.

I’ve done that a few times. It doesn’t help.

I have tried restarting a few times on both watches and I still have the problem. It did it again last night. I tried to message support and got a link to a page that doesn’t help me at all. As you said, it is frustrating.

It didn't work.  I did the shutdown but my heart rate is currently 100 and I haven't had it on for an hour.  How is that possible???

A warm welcome to the Community @Mbison. Thanks for the steps that you've followed. If you're getting steps and heart rate while you're not wearing it. Please place your device on a different surface without any vibrations, and continue monitoring it.

So i was looking at all the forums all the questions and it seemed odd to me that this was going on.... one thing i noticed on mine is that my HR sensor will stay on when useing clocks not made by fitbit. I switched the clock face to a fitbit clock face and resolved HR dosent show if not on skin!!! Pass the word around!!
