I've been out exercising with my fitbit iconic. I've done a 20km round, my SO also tracked the round on another device (not fitbit) and the round is 20km. However, my fitbit only tracked 15.5km on the same round. That is a huge difference, so what is the problem, the watch or the software?

@NinaCD Welcome to the Fitbit family! Thanks for taking the time to share the situation you are currently experiencing with Ionic distance not being correct while performing an activity with GPS.
What type of activity were you performing?
In this case, I'd recommend measuring and adjusting your stride length. This is good to have the correct distance tracked when running or walking. Note that when you're tracking an activity with GPS, Fitbit calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, the tracker will calculate distance using steps and stride length until a GPS signal is found.
If this continues to happen you can also perform a restart on Ionic. This should refresh its inner system and help you out with this too.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

Hi, I was out doing nordic cross country skiing, but I chose Run in the fitbit, since skiing is not an option. I also made sure the gps tracker stood on connected, because of the steps calcualation if it's not connected. It's probably more accurate if I was actually running, but it's still gps, so it should do a little bit better that 5k off.. and is it possible to get more type of exercises as an option?
