Ionic added a approximately 20,000 steps to my day even though I had it sitting on my work desk for over 8 hours. On the day I only would have done around 3,500 steps but the Fitbit showed 23,500

@Franciscus Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for taking the time to report this situation about your watch counting steps while you are sitting on your work desk.

By any chance, was there anything on your work desk surface that may have been buzzing or vibrating? Something like a fan, for example? That may be causing the extra steps to be counted.

Also, is this the first time this has happened or has this happened again to you?

Please perform a restart on your Ionic. That should help you out to prevent this from happening again.

Hope this helps. Keep me posted! Smiley Happy

Mine did the same thing last night. I was sitting near a space heater, but that's not out of the ordinary. I usually charge it there.

I have restarted by Ionic twice. Do you believe all will be well tomorrow or will I need to do a full reset? (I hope not...I don't have time for that right now...)

Thanks!

Patty

@phouse Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to share the experience you have had with extra steps and for sharing the details when charging. Thanks for restarting your watch.

Try charging it in a different place next time to check if that will make a difference. The restart was good too; it should be all good today. Can you update me? Smiley Happy
