Hi Cyril, We appreciate your response and we do apologize for any inconvenience. We also respect and understand your feedback towards our products and services.

In essence the only response I got that my Ionic is out of warranty by 2 weeks, no support in South Africa and I should go online to purchase a new one... laughable.

I have tried the methods recommended on Fitbit community but to no avail, I upgraded the app on my iPhone and held buttons down on more than occassion, even tried charging from laptop,,,, this is a disaster after 13months!!!

@CyrilAM Welcome to the Fitbit Community.

I'm very sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced. Thank you for the time you spent while trying to resolve the issues.

Our team is constantly working to improve our products and services and appreciate all the feedback from users. I would like to clarify that at the moment, there are no service centers in South Africa to repair Fitbit products, however we still support our users when it is necessary.

Whether you would like to check the Fitbit Warranty, please visit this site.

Thank you for trying the methods recommended on Fitbit Community. Since I don't know if you have done it already, I want to share with you our recommendations to resolve battery issues.

If this doesn't help, you can perform a factory reset to your watch by doing the following but keep in mind that you’ll need to reinstall any apps on your device after the reset, and the data not synchronized will be lost:

  1. On the Ionic, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. For more information please visit this article.
