Some of things to check:
1. Do you have other notitfications active (email, Message+..) and do they show up on your Ionic? If you have set up to receive other notifications and none show up... then try pushing and holding the left button for a couple of seconds until you see the options for screen wake and notifications on the Ionic show up. Make sure notifications is turned on.
2. I assume you have already done this but check to make sure the options on WhatsApp has notifications on the phone turned on.

on your phone app - at the dashboard screen - tap on the icon at the upper right to bring up the options and list of devices. on the list tap on the ionic tile. scroll down to notifications and tap that. look down the list and tap App Notifications. scroll down the list for apps whose notifications you want sent to your ionic. WhatsApp should be on the list (i am assuming you have that app on your phone). you can then back out. make sure you sync after that to set up your choices. That should do it

I have exactly the same, since last week no Whatsapp notifications on my Ionic from my Samsung S9+. Used to work just fine, now I get all notifications I want, but no whatsapp. Tried rebooting watch, phone, changing settings & syncing numerous times.... all works just fine except for Whatsapp :(....

Reading the reviews in the app store, seems that A LOOOOOOT of people are facing these issues since the last app update. So not much we can do I guess except for waiting for a new update that fixes this...

Ditto, no Whatsapp or Signal (which I use for SMS) notifications since the most recent firmware update (was this the first update that allowed you to set Whatsapp as a messaging application? I don't recall this option existing before but it's been a while since I checked closely). I'm on a Google Pixel 3.
Other notifications seem to be working fine - K9 and Slack for example work consistently every time.
Although I just tested & noticed that Calendar notifications also do not seem to fire off alerts - interesting, because Calendar is one of the "special applications" (Text Messages, Calendar Events, Emails, and Calls).
I have tried disabling the notifications for these ones and then checking them in the App Notifications setting to see if that fixes it, but sadly that didn't work.

I have the same problem for the last couple of days. All other notifications work. However whatsapp does not. Both apps were updated on the same day(whatsapp and fitbit) on my phone since then no notifications are coming though.

I am having the same issues. WhatsApp was working fine till a couple of weeks ago. Reset watch, deleted app, reinstalled. Nothing works. I get some notifications such as messenger, fitbit and phone calls but no longer get emails, WhatsApp or sms messages. Normally every three months all notifications stop and then I have to reset everything. Doesn't matter what phone I use, IOS and android perform the same way.

Hi,
I got a Fitbit Android application update today (3 Oct) and after updating my text message, Whatsapp and Calendar notifications are working again. Looks like it's back to working properly - thanks!
