I received a new Fitbit Ionic a few months back to replace my Surge that had stopped holding a charge for more than a few hours without GPS on and about 20 mins with it on - not ideal for running more than 3k!! Delighted with my New Ionic I could once again record my half marathon routes and stats. The battery initially lasted for 4-5 days when not using GPS and at least 2 days with GPS on for about 2-3 hours over that time. Then it suddenly started to lose charge in a day, without GPS and consequently after 2-3 hours with GPS. I’ve not changed any settings from my original set up and all the tips for saving on battery life have always been set so why has this changed?

@SunsetRunner,
"Factory resets I found did very little to alleviate the problem".
Worth a try though. No other options or fixes from Fitbit. Would be nice to hear from one of the engineers from the company. Bit of a firewall up regarding that type of access.
Only other thing is to wait (and hope!) that the next firmware addresses the battery drain issue among other problems. But we are not privy as to whether the battery issue is due to poor quality battery manufacture, electronic fault or a coding issue?

Recieved mine a couple of weeks ago. Worked great until last week. Now it loses a full charge in around 24 hours... 18 hours last time. I've turned off all notifications, removed nearly all the apps, turned off battery draining stuff too... still draining like a broken faucet.

My suggestion would be to do a factory reset, in case of a logic issue causing a power drain. I reluctantly suggest a reset as plenty have had issues getting up and running afterwards. I'm assuming yours is still within the 1 year warranty - so a reset will be covered by warranty if any issues.
BTW, a device reset shouldn't be of any concern. Sadly it can be with these devices.
Try a restart first. Shut it down through the menu and then restart it. Make sure it's well charged first.

I had the same issue with 2 Ionics, one was replaced after 8 months and the second displayed these sorts of problems within 6 months, I removed the apps (which never worked anyway) The re-charge was every 2-3 days and sometimes the battery would hold for a day and a half in the end, if I went on a 20+ mile bike ride, the watch battery would actually fully deplete during the exercise which was mega frustrating.
Factory resets I found did very little to alleviate the problem.

I’ve tried factory reset but no difference....was fully charged at 7.30am went running for less than 30 mins using GPS and by 10pm it’s on 14%....hopeless!

Oddly enough, I did a full factory reset, created a new account and it seemed to have extended the battery life a fair bit, however that was with very limited tracked activity because I had the newer tracker on.
When contacting fitbit customer service, I wasn't happy with the outcome and asked for the complaint to be escalated, 3 months later. Still waiting... :S
