I recently upgraded from the Alta to the Ionic. I’m very impresssed with the Ionic and enjoy the additional features.
It doesn't accurately record all steps. I’ve undertaken some simple tests. Once over 25 steps are consecutively taken recording is spot on. It’s the shorter number of steps that is struggles to record. This is often when I’m busy around the house with fewer consecutive step activity that isn’t recorded. The Alta was very accurate. Anyone else experiencing this with the Ionic?

I think this is by design to filter out erroneous steps, although 25 seems to be quite a high buffer.
Have you tried changing your Ionic's sensitivity settings to non dominant? That should reduce the so called buffer and make the device more sensitive to steps.
If after trying that and you still have problems I would get in contact with fitbit support, as like I said, 25 seems to be on the high side.
Good luck.

Yes, I agree with @N8teGee. I do notice with my Ionic that the step count is lower compared to the other two trackers i have, but is MUCH more accurate as far as not recording extra steps (especially in cycling where my other two trackers record several thousznd false steps when I cycle 20 km or so, with the Ionic recording only a couple of hundred) I guess this comes at a 'cost' when you are pottering around.

Thanks for the responses.
The ionic is clearly much more accurate than the Alta. I accept that it is better to lose a bit of pottering steps compared with more accurate recording of exercise activities.
