Ionic case pitting and corroding

I've loved my Ionic to this point, but I'm frustrated by the huge holes developing on the back of the case.  What started as some surface discoloration had evolved into CRATERS in the case material. I understand that sweat can be salty and caustic, but this is a fitness device designed to be worn in those conditions.  It shouldn't be doing this at all, let alone this severely.  I tried to upload a photo, but the system would not let me.

Has anyone else experienced this?
