Ionic counting false steps / floors while riding bike

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I received my Fitbit Ionic yesterday itself, I was super excited but it was a huge turn off when I saw the false counting of steps and floors climbed during riding my bike.

Guess what I rode for around 20 mins and ionic counted it as 1000 additional steps and 19 floors climbed.

Does anyone else faced this issue?

Hi @Yashanshu - Did you start an activity to track your ride? In terms of the floors climbed, the Ionic uses an altimeter to measure altitude changes and an algorithm converts this to "floors". So yes, that is actually a normal behavior. When I run with my Ionic, I typically climb 40 or 50 "flights".

In terms of the steps, I think that it should not count steps if you are tracking biking as an activity.
