Ionic display not turning on

2 nights ago my ionic started flashing the Fitbit symbol and I couldn’t restart it, hard or soft.  Now when I try to reset it various colors of blue lines show up.  I have had this new model for about a year.

Hi @Rholeitner, welcome to the Community Forums! Sorry for the delay in responding your post.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors of your Fitbit Ionic are still flashing? To make sure that you tried the correct steps, please check our restart process here and then the following steps for the factory reset procedure:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Looking forward to your reply.

I am also experiencing the same issue.  When I initially attempted to reboot (the left button + the lower right button) the device, i never got the Fitbit logo...i was seeing colored bars with varying shades of green and blue.  When I attempted the method described above, i never got anything on the screen.  It may have lit up momentarily, but no logo.  I have it charging at the moment, and i did get a % that showed up of 65%, but nothing like what you're describing.  I did install the update that i was notified about when it was made available to me, and i've never had any issues with it otherwise.

Same here. The logo never shows up for me either.

Now I charge it and nothing. No blue lights or Fitbit sign. I’ve tried everything. This is the 2nd time the Ionic has failed me. So frustrating. Good luck getting yours back on track!

Same issue here. I did the reset following those instructions you mention Ricardo and as soon as I get to the screen with the Fitbit logo with the fitbit.com/setup the screen just slowly fades away and the device resets itself. It's just stuck in that loop.

On top of that, the URL Fitbit.com/setup. is faulty and takes you to a 404 page not found site.

I am on my 3rd fit bit in 4 years. I bought the first one just to track my steps. My wife bought me the next two thinking I wanted them. I currently own a one and a half year old Ionic. The last couple of weeks the battery would not hold a charge. I thought I just needed a new battery. Not! Two days ago it completely died. Won't take a charge or turn on. Contacted service and they walked me thru my options. Still wouldn't work. They told me nothing they could do but give me a 25% discount on another one. No way would I pay another nickel for this crap product. By the way the last two fitbits lasted about as long. Don't waste your money on this junk. If yours is still under warranty, contact them right away. They won't stand behind their products once the warranty is past, even though many people are complaining about the same issues.

Join the club. Mine is a year and a half old and won't start or take a charge. This is my 3rd fitbit in 5 years. Their product is junk. They offered me a 25% discount off of a new one. I'll go back to a watch if I have to, but I will never buy another one of their products.

Hi!  None of the advice helped my Fitbit.  It is fully charged. I felt it vibrate but nothing ever showed up on the screen!

I have just has the same issue. I have tried the reset multiple times and get nothing but a faint blue glow around the edge of the screen.

My watch was at 80% battery life according to the app on my phone. It was still recording information bit none of it could be viewed.

My watch was purchased in September last year and I haven't had any issues with it until the most recent update.

I foolishly unpaired it from my phone and now I cannot reconnect it because nothing shows on the screen to link the 4 digit pin

You should be able call support and get a new one since it has been under a year. This is what I did with my previous Fitbit. They either replace the one you have or give you 50% off another one. That is how I upgraded to Ionic. This was in July of 2018 for me though, so I am out of luck!

i wish i could.  i got mine through amazon as refurbished, in late Feb/early March, and had a 90-day warranty through them.  i just switched back to my Charge 2 for now, might upgrade to the Charge 3 with the price drop and some gift certificates through Best Buy
