Ionic display too dim

I've only had my Ionic a few months, got it to replace my Blaze that I'd had for years when it finally died.

The Ionic was fine and then suddenly the screen went that dim I couldn't see what was on it. I've tried everything but nothing works. Can't get into the settings because the screen won't respond and it's that dim I can't see anything anyway.

Can't find any help in other posts and need some help now please. What's the sense of paying out for a newer model if it won't work?! How can I get the screen bright again and make it respond as it should? 🤔

Hi

I tried a factory reset but that didn't work either. Today I've been on the live chat to customer services and they suggested I changed the clock face in the app, they said this should work...... guess what, it worked!! I don't know why a different clock face would make it work when nothing else has, but it did work, with everything! The screen is visible again and the touchscreen is working too. So I just thought I would let you guys know in case there is anyone else having the same problem. You never know, it might work for them too. Thank you for trying to help me, I'm so pleased to have my fitbit working again. 😊

To recalibratethesetting, turn auto-brightness off in Brightness & Wallpaper settings. Then go into an unlit room and dragtheadjustment slider to makethe screen as dim aspossible. Turn auto-brightness on, and once you head back PupilPath world, your phoneshouldadjust itself

Thank you Hurst32, but I don't think you understand my problem. The screen is so dim I can hardly see it and it won't respond when I try to navigate anywhere. This means that I can do nothing via the screen. So I can't navigete to the auto-brightness, or Brightness & Wallpaper settings, or anything else for that matter.

Can someone please tell me if I can reset the whole thing to default settings using the buttons?  I can't use the screen at all. Thank you.

Hello @Kazonnet, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for the details that were shared in your post, your effort and patience trying the steps that were shared by @Hurst32 are also appreciated. Since you're still experiencing difficulties with the display brightness of your Ionic, please try our factory reset procedure following the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Let me know if further assistance is needed and if you have any additional questions.

I have eventually managed to add it again as a new setup, but I've had great difficulty in getting to the settings and changing the brightness and screen timeout.

Unfortunately it still won't work. The touchscreen isn't as responsive as it should be and it still keeps dimming out before I get chance to do anything. It also keeps putting lines across the screen.

There is something seriously wrong with it when it's doing this and it's only 2 months old. It's the second Ionic I've had, the first had to be returned after a few weeks, now this one has failed too. I'm not impressed with the quality of the Ionic at all. What am I supposed to do with a 2 month old Ionic that won't work?!

I've been trying to upload some photos of the screen with the lines all over it, so you get an idea what it's like, but for some reason it won't work. I'm sure the screen has had it because it shouldn't have lines all over it like it has. I've lost all faith in the Ionic, wish I'd never bought it in the first place!

Please can someone help? I bought this Ionic new via eBay two months ago.

It has decided to stop working and I can't use it.

Please can someone answer my question, what can I do now to get it sorted, or get a replacement? Thank you in advance for any help.

I thought my Ionic was fixed the other day after I had changed the clock face, as the screen brightness returned and the touch screen was working again.

Unfortunately it isn't fixed, the lines are still appearing on the screen and it keeps showing a part of the screen display instead of all of it.

So although the brightness and touch screen are fixed, the rest of it isn't. Has the screen had it, or can it be fixed? Does a anyone know?

Great, just did this and I had to pair with the app again. Now can’t do that because the Fitbit is displaying a code I can’t see because the screen is not working. What a monumental stuff up this is...

Hi, it's me again. I posted that changing the clock face on my Ionic fixed it, but unfortunately it was only for a short time. the screen has gone haywire again and just shows lines across it. I hope my last post of how to fix it worked for some of you, but unfortunately it hasn't worked for me. I've posted some pics of what it's doing, if anyone has any answers I'd be most grateful, it's absolutely useless like this and I've really had enough of it now! 😥
