Ionic heart rate accuracy concern while exercising

Hi, I've read through the posts and I see some people with similar issues but I haven't found a resolution.  My Fitbit Ionic is unreliable for it's heartrate.  I've had it spike to over 190 when I was hardly out of breath and I've had it register in the 60s when I've been on the treadmill for over 5 minutes. I've tried placing it high on my wrist, low on my wrist, on the bottom of my wrist and doing this for both arms. I've also rebooted my watch a few times. Are there any other suggestions on how to get an accurate heart rate when exercising?

Perhaps a factory reset may be a last resort. There are links and suggestions in the forum as to the proper procedure. But remember to do a final sync for data retention and remove the Ionic from the app, and also the phones Bluetooth before a factory reset in the settings>About menu.

Hi @negodkin, it's nice to see you again participating here in the Community Forums, welcome back!

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here, I understand how concerning this heart rate accuracy issue can be for you. To better assist you and further investigate this, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this issue and how many times since then? Is this occurring only during an exercise or with your daily stats as well? If only during a workout, can you please specify which or which ones? Also, are you comparing the heart rate data tracked by your Ionic with other tracking device?

@PaulMe Thanks for your help and suggestion.

Looking forward to your reply. Let me know if you have any questions for me to answer.

I've been wearing a Fitbit with heart rate tracking for nearly six years now, first the Surge, and now the Ionic; in both cases I saw some pretty bizarre readings when I'd be working out, and once again in both cases, if I cinch the band down a notch or two tighter to keep the tracker from moving around on my wrist, the accuracy of the heart rate tracking is greatly improved.
