Ionic heart rate not working

My ionic is not showing the flashing heart anymore - it’s stationary. Although that doesn’t seem like a big deal and the heart rate is still being recorded In the app - it’s not picking up my heart rate when I meditate, and just keeps telling me to wear my Fitbit to make this work. Is there an update for this?

@Angel__ It's nice to see you on the Fitbit Community. Thank you for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate the detailed information shared. If your Ionic is still picking up your heart rate and then transferring it to the app, please try the following tips to improve the accuracy of the heart-rate reading:

  • Wear your Fitbit device on top of your wrist, and make sure the back of the device is in contact with your skin.
  • When you’re not exercising, wear your device a finger’s width above your wrist bone.
  • During exercise, wear your device a bit tighter and higher for an improved fit. The band should be snug but not constricting (a tight band restricts blood flow, potentially affecting the heart-rate signal). Many exercises such as bike riding or weight lifting cause you to bend your wrist frequently, which could interfere with the heart-rate signal if the watch is lower on your wrist.

You may want to check these factors that can affect your heart-rate reading

Let me know how it goes. I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

Thanks for your reply. I’ve tried everything you’ve said - wearing wristband in various different places - and still no change. The blinking heart on the ionic stopped blinking on the same day this happened and wherever I wear my band it still does not work properly. Yes the heart rate is still being transferred to the app on the main screen, but it has stopped transferring the heart rate to the mediation part, where after meditating you press how calm you are and get a graph come up showing if your heart rate has gone down or not. That is the part that is not working.

As for exercise I literally only walk, I’m not doing any bike riding or weights or anything different from what I was doing before this stopped working. I take two long dog walks a day. The day the heart rate stopped blinking on my watch is the day I noticed it’s not recording after a mediation. Something clearly isn’t right.

@Angel__ Thank you for getting back. I appreciate that you've tried the troubleshooting posted above.

Based in what you mentioned, it seems that the green flashing lights aren't turning on but you're still receiving heart rate information on your app. Can you let me know what you're seeing on your Ionic in the heart rate tile? Are you receiving heart rate information for your walks?

Regarding the Mindfulness sessions not showing heart rate information, please ensure that you have the latest app version and that you're wearing your Ionic when doing these sessions.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.
