I’m on my second Ionic because of water damage. My first one was replaced for warranty. Now my new one died. And I can’t get this one replaced under warranty. You can see the moisture in it. It is supposed to be water proof and isn’t. I used it to track my swimming laps and I don’t take it deep at all. I’m very disappointed in the product. I think I’ll look into an Apple Watch next and forget Fitbit all together. Tired of faulty products.

So what do you suggest? I have been a loyal Fitbit user for quite a few years. And I specifically bought the Ionic because I want to tract my swimming laps. I would hope if they claim they are water proof and they have a swim lap tracking part of the standard tracking areas, it should be waterproof. I spent a lot of $$ on it. Now after 9 months it’s garbage. I own other Apple products and I hope they can stand by their product if they claim waterproof. So far I’ve been happy with my others purchased. I’m just in the investigation stage as I need something for swimming and something that works longer than months.

Is there any other damage on the Ionic casing? That could be the reason water is getting in...

There is no physical damage to the casing that I can see. I have not dropped it or done any other damage to it. It just stopped working in the middle of my swim. Just like the first one did. Both Ionics only lasted 9-10 months. When I got this one under warranty, I would have had to pay something to get the replacement under warranty. I guess I had more faith in the product and figured the odds of it happening again were little so I didn’t pay the extra. I guess I should have. They shouldn’t advertise water proof, when it’s not after several months of use. Should be listed as water resistant and not be used to track swim laps. As I said before, very disappointed.
