I have loved my Ionic until last night,. It was working fine, fully charged, and then It just died. Black screen, no green light heart sensor. Chatted online with support, they told me to clean the connection with rubbing alcohol then press all three buttons for 10 sec. None of that worked. That was it! Their solution...a 25% off coupon to get another one? Really?!? The support person said all technology has an unknown expiration date. I'm sorry but a $300 smartwatch should not die after 2 years for no apparent reason and a 25% off coupon to get another one just seemed like an insult. Anyone else have this happen?

That sucks, there are several threads on the support forums where the same thing has happened! It seems like almost all of the problems have been happening in the last few weeks or so, and for many it has coincided with a software update. It is really too bad and somewhat telling of the company to have this happen to so many people at the same time and for them to bury their heads in the sand and act like nothing is happening. If people are getting a response from the forum moderators or customer service it has been a canned response and then an offer of a discount. It’s all bogus, it may be time to join the rest of us as we leave the Fitbit products and head somewhere where $200-$300 gets you a product that lasts. Sorry Fitbit, but the truth hurts.

yeah no way is it software or firmware... my screen is just dying - fading colors.. streaking - no illumination... hardware for sure. Software is a cop out. That could be fixed easily and they would be doing so not throwing up their hands.

Yep, just happened to me, but with a Versa.
Received it as a gift Aug 23 2018 and it spontaneously died just after I finished my run on Sept 8 2019.
Restarted and it wouldn’t hold a charge after that. Cleaned the contacts, removed third party clock face and ran through Support’s battery tests. The verdict: battery dead. Just a couple of weeks past one year!
No replacement, but I was offered 25% off a new one or 40% off a Versa Lite. Versa no longer available; Versa 2 is very expensive and Versa Lite does not count stairs.
i appreciate the discounts but my husband, who bought it for me, spent all that money on a gift that died after a year. He has an Apple Watch and we’re thinking that might be better for me. Very expensive but seems much more reliable. I’m not sure I can trust Fitbit to last.
I’m sad because I love Fitbit’s tracking and apps and we also have the Aria scale and the Flyer earphones! I wish this issue could be resolved. I’ve been recommending the Versa to so many people. 😞

Mine did this exact thing a couple weeks ago. No solution from Fitbit other than to tell me to buy a new watch.

I’m reading about similar issues that happened after the latest firmware update.
I don’t know how to check when that update happened on my watch... do any of you know how?

I started with the Blaze, died in less than a year. Wasn't happy with it, so I fell for the 50% "upgrade" to the ionic. It has all the same problems, and it too died in less than a year. They did replace it, very lucky for that apparently. But the new one still doesn't work right, and now I wait for it to die also.
Now as the Versa gets to about the one year point it appears we will start seeing failures there too.
There was another long thread with all these Ionic failures and the moderator just locked it. Can't have people realising that they are selling junk and refuse to acknowledge it I suppose.
Did you also notice that Fitbit doesn't have customer reviews? I didn't until I got fed up enough to feel like I need to warn people, can't really do it.

Yes, they closed the thread where everyone was complaining about the ionic, I guess too many complaints and no reasonable solutions. So let's keep the topic going because that is the only way they will be forced to do somesomet about it !

I just found another long thread from early this year with tons of the same thing from all the people who bought them early. It really is looking more and more like they are causing this intentionally with updates.
The same moderator locked that thread too.
They don't want anyone realizing just how many have the exact same problem!

mine dead when it's 16 month old
support told me to restart, but not work at all.
Then they told me to buy a new one that the warranty is out for 4 months.
haha, 300 is gone

This is the second Ionic of mine that did the same thing. I bought the new one in May this year and now it is dead. Very disappointed. Again.

My Ionic bricked out of nowhere today. Nothing can get it to start up again.
It'd be nice if we got solutions here instead of platitudes from Fitbit. This issue has been going on for months apparently, and looks like it will continue to.

Mine was perfectly fine until I got my new iPhone 11 today and it didn’t want to sync..I hard reset it and it died. I support from Fitbit just “here is a 25% coupon” so you can spend another $200-$300 on something that is programmed to fail at 13 months but only if you do a reset..can’t make it too obvious or people will catch on

You have not had it two years already, it came out in March of 2018.
EDIT: I see you edited your post, anyways 18 months is pretty par for the course of the better specimens. I would not hold my breath on it making it much longer though.
