I love my ionic but it needs more apps.
If developers read this post here is a list of apps I believe is a must for a smart watch.
- calender
- sms
- Spotify
- calculator (just something basic, if there is room for a pin surely there is room for a calculator)
- gym training app (nothing to fancy like tracking reps... Just information on the screen of the watch, like watch exercise I need to do next and a timer for specific exercises)
That is all I have come up with for now but I really hope fitbit develop the apps or a 3rd party does. Because I'm seriously thinking about selling my ionic to get a gear or an apple watch.

Hi @Dan89blaa,
I've seen that third-party developers have already made a calendar and calculator app. We just need the app store to open so they can be distributed.
Spotify will be a little trickier, as it involves all those negotiations over licensing.
The gym training app sounds interesting, and you should feel welcome to post that as an official suggestion on the Feature Suggestion board on this site.

@Dan89blaa I think with time more apps will be added and "smarter" features as well. The apple watch is just an extension of what apple already did and they added steps to it. The fitbit is far superior to the apple for fitness tracking. I guess the question becomes do you want a phone strapped to your wrist or do you want a fitness tracker? If the answer is both but more so about the fitness, then I think we just have to be patient and let the developers do their thing.. my opinion of course

You can see a few things developers are working on here:

I've had FitBits since 2012 and took a break for about a year after I suffered the dreaded Surge wrist rash. During that time, I turned to the Garmin VivoActive, which I really liked. Garmin has created an app store that are all FREE. I would like to see FitBit move this direction and be able to download apps like "tracking water consumption" or "yoga workouts" as well as a calendar with calendar reminder.

Needs a better alarm app too. The fitbit alarm with 3 short bursts is not enought to wake up most people. It needs to vibrate until you dismiss it.

I would love for a mental health tracker to be available as well as calendar and music apps such as Spotify and Pandora.
