Ionic not charging and display not working

My never ending issues with my Ionic continue. I went to charge it today when it was down to about 10%. I looked at it and it was still charging at 82% so I know it was charging. A bit later I took it off and it was dead. No screen, no green light on the back. I tried the three button reset and the two button reset (back and bottom buttons). Nothing worked. It's totally dead. Anybody have any ideas?

It's great to see you around @Hsbi. I would like you to restart your Ionic and make sure you're fully charging it. This time, you can try to changing USB ports.

Hope this helps. Let me know the outcome.

Unable to recharge as the unit is completely dead, cannot reset and had already cleaned the charging points and tried a number of alternative usb ports. All to no avail. But thanks for trying to help.

welcome to the club! They continue to tell you to restart it even after you tell them it's totally dead.

Mine did the same yesterday; it's been on charge for about 4 hours and still won't turn on

I am having the same issue,  however my battery was showing medium when the screen went black. I have it charging now (yes I verified the plug is functioning) and no matter the button pressing configuration I use cannot get the watch to turn on. Very disappointed!!!

Mine started that today to. Ive also tried the 3 and 2 button reset. Tried different usb ports and still a black screen. This has happened a few times before to me but always ended fixing itself. Not so much this time. Seems to be DEAD. Always seems to do this while it was charging. It did say 0% for a lil bit, never went up though. Anyone else have anymore ideas?

Sadly Fitbits response was too bad, we are ok with our products not lasting more than 14 months

Best Answer

Yep! They don't even try to make the product work better. I am leaving fitbit for a Samsung galaxy watch. I'm sure that will be better or at the least they will care of their most expensive product will give the notifications it's suppose to and work for more than 14 months.

Same here.

I hadn't used it in a couple weeks. Was working fine before. Put it on the charger, didn't see the green light on the back flash or anything, so I assumed it was just "really dead".

Charged overnight, but nothing the next day.

When I did the 2 button reset, after about maybe 45 seconds, I saw a big red exclamation point on the display for maybe 2 seconds, then blank again.

I tried the reset agin, but I couldn't even get the exclamation point to show.

Unless the charging cable is suddenly bad, my Ionic seems to be toast.

I purchased this Ionic in November 2017; took it back to the store this morning and they replaced it free of charge.

I do have a case with the support team - but after the first response late Sunday and my reply early on Monday morning - it has all gone quiet.  It seems that my 'ticket' has gone down a rabbit hole!  Not happy at all.

Best Answer

Me too. It was showing 0% when I put it on to charge. I figured it would charge just fine. I went to check it after 5 hours and it said 0% then went black. I tried all of the suggestions pushing all 3 buttons, pushing the left and bottom button. Nothing. I saw one thing that said to go into settings on the watch, but you can't do that with a black screen. I cleaned everything and checked the charging station. It is working bc the rest of the things plugged in are charging just fine. I haven't even had it for a year yet. I really hope I can get it fixed bc I have bragged about how great it is to everyone I know.

I “chatted” with Fitbit today. The agent was really nice, but the bottom line was since I was a month and a half out of warranty, they couldn’t do anything.
They offered 40% off a new one, but if it only lasts a year or so, what’s the point?

This was my 4th and last Fitbit device. It’s too bad. I really liked Fitbit and the Fitbit community.

I guess it’s Apple Watch time.

Cheers,

Nelson

I have the same problem.  Started yesterday.  I did everything , but it is still dead.  Called customer service with NO help.  BTW my Fitbit Ionic is 1 year and 38 days old and they only warranty for 1 year and 30 days.  NOT a happy customer.

Best Answer

Yep. My Ionic is trash of course around the 13th to 14th month of ownership. Fitbit will do nothing for it, even though it is a $250 piece of trash. Can't believe this company is so poorly operated. I am now off to join the Apple Watch train as well. I am quite sure my experience will be better there anyhow.

I am 14 months in but here in Europe the warranty is 24 months - but support does not seem to be prepared to engage in any email discussion, after first message to charge and to reset (impossible as the fitbit is dead) they have not responded to a number of emails.
