I have the ionic, and i'm having issues with it not accurately counting my steps. I can count my steps myself and look at my watch and its not even moving. then next thing i know I go from 100 steps to 109 steps and i know I have walked more than that. I had the blaze and the steps are accurate. I have rebooted the Ionic as of today to see if there is a difference. Has anyone else had this issue?

Ya this is crap. With every update it seems to get worse.
I have tried all the steps. I have contacted customer service. My ionic isn’t even that old like maybe 6 months.
Not worth 300.00 bucks! My steps are like 50 % off!
they keep offering the same fixes that don’t work but it’s working for no one. We want resolution.

You have two choices to solve your problem:
1. You do as Kid1carson did and replace your Ionic until you find a model that actually works better
2. You buy a product from a manufacturer that has its hardware and products better under control
Don't wait for any fix for your specific Ionic, as there will be none.

Yep my ionic is also forgetting steps
if I walk around the house it doesn’t add them unless I swing my arm all over !
it doesn’t count if I walk or jog in the spot
waste of £240 tbh
might aswell of stuck to my £15 eBay copy of the flex

It’s so annoying. Mine will not count steps even when I’m walking the dog. Guess holding a leash is not walking

I'm having the same issue. My flex 2 records my actual steps, while my ionic is behind. When i sync my steps, my ionic steps syncs, and my flex2 adjusts to my ionic. I'm constantly losing my daily steps as a result.

Now my Device is not counting no steps st all. This is horrible I recommended no one buys the new iconic cause they don’t care. All they say is it’s over 45 days of purchase I hate mines. No more Fitbit’s for me I don’t have money to waist on there items.

Mine under counts by 2 1/2 times....
I have worn my older step tracker and the numbers aren’t even close!

Given how long this has been going on it seems extremely unlikely that Fitbit sees this as an issue. Regarding other posts that note that the display is not updating, that's often the case with mine but it does appear to be counting steps (although still undercounting). The only way to really quantify the undercounting is to do a manually counted walk of significant distance (several hundred steps). Doing that mine seems to be 10 to 15% off. Where you really lose steps, and when it's almost impossible to tell how much, seems to be when you're doing short bursts of 10-15 steps at a time with significant pauses in-between. The best example I have is when I'm cooking, moving back and forth from stove to counter to fridge, etc. Often my Ionic simply won't count any of these steps whereas my Charge 2 certainly would. In the end it's a huge bummer because the watch is otherwise pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in a semi-smart watch and likely my last fitbit.

Given how long this has been going on since I started this post, it’s clear Fitbit have no intention of rectifying the issue. After 10 months of waiting for them to do something about a product that I otherwise liked, I took it back for a full refund. I think this is the only sort of thing that Fitbit will understand- people voting with their feet. Shame as I said otherwise a good product, but for £250 I would have expected it to function accurately. I won’t be buying another.

I'm both relieved and frustrated to see I'm not the only one having this problem. I am on WW, and sync my FitBit with that app to track activity, which in turn affects my diet plan. And my doctor wants me walking a certain amount per day because I have osteopenia - but this device isn't accurately tracking my activity for either purpose. I invested in a stand-up desk for work, so that I could get more steps in - but none of them are being tracked because I'm not swinging my arms or triggering GPS movement. Meanwhile, it tracks "steps" when I'm talking and gesturing. This is ridiculous and not at all what I would expect from a device at this price. I'm going to start looking into a replacement, since FitBit doesn't seem to care at all that the primary feature of their device is a dismal failure. (Either that, or it is a hardware issue that can't be resolved without recalling the devices and they don't want to go there, so they're wasting everyone's time with troubleshooting steps and updates that don't resolve the problem.)

Hello everyone.
Thanks for sharing your feedback on the matter.
You can read more about the accuracy of your Fitbit by reading this help article, it should definitely be helpful if you haven't gone through that article. In addition I'd like to ask, is your Fitbit counting steps while not being worn?
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks, but I tried all this and contacted Fitbit a few times to try to resolve it too. No change, so I checked the forums. Loads of people with the same issue. I then took the best decision...and one I would advise to everyone else - return this substandard product and get a refund!

The fact that fitbit isn't trying to assist is very upsetting.

I finally gave up waiting and switched to Garmin, much better results in just a few days of use!

Hello @Jess_B, @Jpm777 and @Sweetrini.
@Jess_B and @Jpm777 Hopefully you can consider Fitbit again in the future. Please do know that we appreciate all feedback and are always looking for ways to improve.
@Sweetrini In your particular case, did you check the article I linked to above? Additionally, is your Fitbit tracking steps while not being worn also or only overcounts when it is being worn?
Let me know if you have any further questions.

My problem is I received it as a gift last January from work so I dont know how to trade it back in. My steps are still off despite following all the steps above. I have been a loyal Fitbit user for 10 years but I am also thinking about switching to Garmin because this has not been resolved and I am very frustrated and disappointed. Allegedly, I have hardly met 10k since I bought this and this was my primary goal.
