There are so many threads on this, that I'm not sure if I'm supposed to hijack an existing, or start my own. I went wading in the shallows a couple days ago, less than 2 feet of water, and looked to check time and to my horror, the screen was black. I was trying to download the "salty dog" sailing app just before, so wondered if that maybe used up the battery. There was no prolonged emersion or water pressure at all. No swimming. Unlike others, I do not have any water condensation on the HR sensors. It was in a bag of rice for 48hrs just in case it was flooded somehow. I didn't want to plug it in in case there was water in there. I took it out today, 48hrs, and plugged it in, and it started vibrating continuously (signs of life), but it wasn't acting normal, so I disconnected and put it back in the rice. It this one cooked, or do I just need to hard reset? Bought this during lockdown at end of April, so about 3 months old.
*Update* after 5 days in rice: still vibrating when plugged in and I decided to let it charge. I tried a few soft resets with no screen icon coming up. Tried a hard reset and nothing either. The green charging light is on when plugged in. Battery dead?

Unfortunately the rice trick won't work as even though these devices CLEARLY ARE NOT waterproof they are still fairly airtight - so the rice is unlikely to draw moisture from the watch internals.
The electronics will be damaged.
Hopefully you still have some warranty remaining?
If not, Fitbit won't do anything other than offer you 25% discount on the full price of a replacement.
Fitbit and their staff can't and WON'T admit (at least publicly) that the device isn't properly waterproof. Although the hundreds? of posters on this official forum with water affected devices will beg to differ.

Fitbit customer service told me the warranty on my 2nd bricked Fitbit in 3 months, expired 2 years BEFORE I bought it. Not even sure how that's possible. Then they offered a 35% off full pre-COVID pricing from the Fitbit store. They also thought I might be interested in applying their "discount" to a discontinued Fitbit Charge 3 (!) that isn't even for sale in their store. Meanwhile Amazon and Best Buy have marked-down all Fitbit products by 25%, so this is a real-world 10% coupon and probably a lost household of loyal Fitbit customers and Pebble Kickstarters. Looking at Garmin, Whoop, and maybe the new iphone when it comes out. What did you get?
