@BLadner A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate that you mentioned you've experienced this for about a week.

Please restart your Ionic and wear your Ionic higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight. After this, continue tracking your sleep and let me know the results.

Looking forward to hearing back from you. I'll be around if you have any additional questions!

this is very standard reply. people who use this device for more than 2 years are already aware of how to wear the device. there is a problem with device . sleep tracking is getting messedup. i also faced same problem yesterday. it started tracking at right time but mid sleep it just stopped sleep tracking randomly. do you have any other and specific answer to this situaiton rather than just suggesting wearing it 2-3 fingers up or restarting?

I totally agree, there must be other explanations. Mine even records 2.15hours of sleep when I am wide awake and doesn’t record anymore.

one of the reasons I bought this device was to monitor my sleep pattern and I hope this is fixed.

hello Silvia. this is 2nd day in row that my fitbit stops recording sleep 1 to 1.5 hours into sleep. i have tried restarting it yesterday 2 times after it didnt record sleep and same thing today morning, after 1.5 hours of recording sleep it just didnt record anything . even HR was not registered. looked as if it hanged/died. in the morning it was working ok. everything else is currently functioning.

not sure how to resolve this weird issue.

due to this the rhr also goes for a big toss.

@Sean.a Welcome back to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for letting me know that your Ionic is registering sleep when you're wide awake. Please restart your Ionic and let me know if it's tracking your sleep at night or if it's only tracking some hours.

First of all - it is NOT registering sleep. I am asleep by 10:30 or 11 PM
every night but it started only registering sleep at around 1 AM.

Nothing changed as far as my use, position or snugness of the FitBit on my
arm, etc.

I did reset it and it is working now for about 4 days but it also
sporadically misses counting steps and that started at about the same time
as the sleep tracking problem - shortly after the last big update.

I was very surprised to see how many others have had similar problems.

Thanks Silvia for your response. Infact it never registered full sleep . it did register first couple of hours after that it just stopped. Yesterday, I managed to find the culprit. It was the "unsupported" SpO2 clock that i had tried to install and saved it as part of 5 clocks. it never got fully installed but in my opinion it did try to install and it messed up with some calculations though it was not active clock in use. i did check again yesterday with installing the clock and this time it got installed properly (i am in India region) and also sleep got recorded properly with HR and SPO2 variationsand so on. so all back to normal. Good to also see SPO2 results after 1 night of sleep. the clock is also working good.

thanks again but you can discard the support ticket for now.

regards

Rahul

@BLadner Thank you for getting back. I appreciate the troubleshooting tried.

I'm glad to hear that your sleep has been tracked for the past 4 days. If your Ionic is missing steps please check this article about How accurate are Fitbit devices?

In order to provide you with the correct troubleshooting please let me know the amount of steps you've been missing in a day and if it's happening when you're exercising or when you're doing an activity in specific.

@rahulganatra Thank you for letting me know that your sleep data is showing properly again. You could find more information about the new SpO2 clock face in this article: How do I track blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) with my Fitbit device?

I'll be around if you have any additional questions!

Hi, welcome to the forums and congratulations on using your fitbit for the first time. Please verify the watch is powered on... 😉

In my experience the sleep tracking sometimes doesn't autodetect properly. However, I've had success going back to the sleep event to edit it through the app. Change the start/end time to approximately when you think you started falling asleep etc. This normally loads data which at least seems plausible. It sucks having to do this.
