Ionic not registering steps

Got my ionic 2 days ago. Thursdays are normally a 10,000 step day and today's steps showed 186. Heart rate doesn't work at all either. I've factory reset and reloaded 3 times. It is set up on my phone, however, my desktop doesn't register that it is. Very frustrating to spend so much for a faulty product. It tells time fine and alerts me when I have a text. Wish it would do what it was designed to do.
