Ionic not responding

Quit in the middle of the day with a 79% power. Won't come on when attached to charger, won't factory reset holding two buttons, three buttons or anything else. Up until yesterday worked great. Now had to go backwards into my Fitbit Charge HR which is okay but the face is cracked.

Mine died last week. Same issue. I'm noticing a very big pattern here. So many people with the same issue.

I'm thinking of going over to Samsung. Without knowing the reason for the issue, I can't get another.

Hi @PJtracker thanks for bringing this to my attention, welcome to the Community Forums. It's a pleasure to assist you with your Ionic concern. It's nice to see you again participating @monionic.

First, I'd like to appreciate your effort and time troubleshooting this matter prior to posting. To better assist you guys, please let me know if the heart rate sensor green lights are flashing or if your devices are completely unresponsive? I recommend to check our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes. Such article includes a restart process which can be really helpful for your difficulties.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be here.

Ionic does not have the green light on, no lights, nothing. Tried charging, although it was at 70% when it died, doesn’t come on when on the charger overnight, nor does it come on when put on my son’e charger (he has an Ionic as well). It is DEAD.

Thank you,

PJTracker

Thanks for your reply and update @PJtracker, I'm happy to continue assisting you.

I appreciate all the information and details that were shared with me in your post, your effort and patience troubleshooting your device is really appreciated. I would like to confirm that the factory reset that was previously provided is the correct one or if you followed the correct steps. Please try the following:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

Keep me posted.

Mine is on the way out.  It started with the Fitbit icon on the screen yesterday and after doing the reboot and a factory reset the screen still doesn’t really work by touch.  It started flashing between the icon and my normal face and blinks on and off randomly. Talked to tech via chat today and they said Fitbit warranty is only a year so they won’t replace and it seems there is nothing to do to fix it.  Didn’t even make it 2 years, seems ridiculous considering the cost.

I bought 2 Ionic devices, one for myself and 3 months later one for my wife.

Believe it or not both devices dies the exact same day.

My wife’s device was 11 months old and mine 14 months. I was in the USA and my wife in Canada when that happened, so this is not a power surge issue. Neither of us would swim or even take a shower with the Ionic on.

I contacted Fitbit support. My wife got a replacement since still under warranty but I got the 25% rebate offer. Ridiculous and insulting! I acknowledged receipt of the offer but there is just no way that I will proceed!

This is a huge deception. Why would I pay 75% of 250 US$ for a device that in my experience has 100% chance of failing within 14 months or so? 2 out of 2 devices dying the same day is a horrible reliability issue. I loved collecting Fitbit badges, no doubt, but that extremely bad support signals the end of my loyalty with now Google owned Fitbit.  I will carry on tracking my health, no doubt, but using a device that will undoubtedly allow me to, not one that will quit on me despite the significant investment.

Fitbit community users, you have been warned!

My ionic recently stopped working. I tried all of the restart options, different charging options, and even talked to customer support. After everything they told me that my product wasn't working correctly and they could offer me a 25% discount on future products. I'm not risking giving this company my business again.
