Ionic not turning on following constant reset screen

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago my Fitbit's screen looked like it was stuck in a constant reboot cycle. The Fitbit logo stayed on screen. The battery eventually died and, while recharging, I was able to reset and get to the normal screen for a short period before the watch went into a reboot cycle again. During the brief "normal" period The heart rate and step monitors weren't working, however.

I've tried a number of resets and now I can't get anything on screen at all. Even when charging I get a blank screen.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, is there a fix?

Thanks,

Brett

Hi!  My watch updated this past weekend.  Tuesday after a 6 mile run it said I did over 16 million steps.  Not accurate. Last night I plugged it in to charge and this morning it has the Fitbit logo and will not reset turn off or anything.  Called support, they said it wasn’t due to an issue on their part.  And, there was nothing they could do but offer me 25% off on a new one.   My warranty has expired.   I’m furious as I have never had problems with my FitBit, and I am training for a Triathlon currently.   They obviously need to re-evaluate their issue and extend a solution.

Thanks for getting back @ChaCharuns. I appreciate the details mentioned. Each case is reviewed individually and the option provided is based in the Fitbit Warranty

I'll be around if you need further assistance.

There is no way everyone is randomly experiencing the same issues. I guess they really want to sell more of their new watches? And make everyone but new.

I've just had an email stating that I can get a new one under warranty or 50% off a different unit. I thought the ionic was going to be the top spec wearable with constant updates to keep it up to date but it seems like it's not moved on since release.

Sorry for the delayed update. About two weeks ago I received a message from Fitbit to check on the warranty status of my ionic, which is over a year old. Because that puts it out of warranty, the offer I was given was for a new ionic at a 40% discount.

I have a Pixel 3 XL and at least one other commenter has the same phone. Given the number of posts with the same issue this does seem to be an issue with the watch/software and may or may not be specific to the Pixel 3. Either way, the resolution was, unfortunately, not a fix to my old watch or a free new ionic but an invitation to buy an ionic at a discount.

My choice was to buy a new ionic at a discounted rate. Interested to hear if others choose to go elsewhere; if so would be interested to know what that choice is.

Best,

Brett

I have a OnePlus and have chopped and changed phone manufacturers on a regular basis, that's why I went with Fitbit originally to keep consistency through my data. I am however now looking at other ways to do this as it's been twice that a Fitbit product has failed on me and 4x based on the people in the house (kids, wife, etc...) In the last 2 years. I'm worried that this is a thing and products are not built to last? Samsung would be my choice of fitbit replacement but that forces me down the Samsung eco system and I don't know if I'm ready to go back to paying £1000+ for a phone just yet.

After a long day without my fitbit.  We did find a hard reset or factory reset to work. Which is to hold all three buttons down until you see the fitbit symbol. Then let go of the top button only. I am still having trouble with it login the right number of steps though, which was the reason for turning it off. Good Luck.

Brett617, I have a Pixel 3 and had the Ionic refuse to fully boot up being stuck on the logo screen, then eventually showing a red X in a red circle; essentially dead. No green LED lights on the back and not recognized by Bluetooth on my phone either.  After trying and failing with the remedies here on the community forum and seeing that for those of us out of warranty were being offered discounts and not replacements I bought another on Amazon Prime Day.  I also bought a Garmin Vivoactive 3 based on another Fitbit poster's suggestion since it has many of the same features of the Ionic.

So, I've been using the Garmin and thus far am pretty satisfied with it- phone notifications were a problem and the company conceded there's a software glitch and a recent update should have fixed it.  One of the monitor's on this forum routed my complaint to tech support and they eventually contacted me with a suggested solution.  I tried there fix and with a little effort it WORKED- was able to update firmware and my 19 month old Ionic revived and is back to where it was before all of this.

Now I have a working old Ionic, a new Ionic and a new Garmin Vivoactive 3- my tracking needs should be covered for the immediate future.  If you aren't confident with your Fitbit's long term prospects you might want to consider the Garmin.  I don't think any of this recent Ionic problem has anything to do with the brand of phone being used.  Just a thought.  Good luck!

I am actually dealing with this as I type, I made the mistake of removing the device from the app thinking that that would help. (It just made things worse) So I agree, does anyone know how to fix this bc I don’t wanna have to buy a new one considering I just bought this one like 2 months ago.

Can you help me fix my Versa 2? I tried to reset it and I got a red X with something saying “Data not cleared

             Synch and try again”

so I tried to re- synch it but it wouldn’t work so I removed the device from my phone and the account and now I can’t get it to do anything. Including connect to the Bluetooth on my phone. I have it charging but it won’t even show the charging screen the only way I know that it is charging is because it buzzed... I tried to swipe out of it but that didn’t work either. Any idea how to fix it? I don’t want to have to get a new one because I just bought this one like 2 months ago. Please help me, I tried reading the FitBit help setting page but that didn’t work as it just told me to reset and that won’t work either. 😓😬

I got in touch with Fitbit and for a small fee (shipping) they replaced the
watch for me, I then sold it and purchased a Samsung Watch which has not
skipped a beat for me since buying it. Honestly I loved fitbit for so long
now I feel like I'd been taken advantage of.

I won't be going back unless they do something special.
