I just left my ionic to charge. After a while I removed it from the charging cable with 100% battery. But the step counter was at 10200 something steps!?
I find this very confusing since it has been placed on my desktop while charging?
How do I reset the step counter? I don't want these 10000 bonus steps.

Is the Fitbit near a vibration source like a fan, dehumidifier, or even a computer CPU? It can see the vibration as steps and add false steps.
You can enter a driving record to get rid of them

Welcome on board @SE81293, it's nice to see you here! Have you tried what my friend @WendyB recommended?
Please perform a restart on Ionic as a first step.
Sometimes this happens as a result of a fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface that Ionic was placed on. If this is the case, please try placing Ionic on a different surface without any vibrations and check if the same persists. You can learn more about how your Fitbit tracks steps by checking out this post.
I had a similar issue a long time ago. I left my Ionic laying on my CPU and due to the vibrations from it, my tracker was tracking steps.
I faced with this twice in a row until I decided to charge my tracker from the CPU to my Mac.
If the same persists or it continues to happen even when charging on a non vibrating surface; the best thing to do is to report this to customer support. They should be able to check further and help you out with the best solution available. I can help you to create a case in you behalf if needed.
Hope this helps, let us know if you need further assistance!

Thanks for the update @SE81293. Since the day you posted, have you tried charging your Ionic again? Did it track steps while on the charger?
I guess the Harman/Kardon might have had something to do with this (due to the vibrations), but I wanted to confirm if you experienced this again.
I'll be around, ping me out!
