Ionic's App install loop

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So...I tried to install both the Leaderboard and Think Fast apps on my Ionic yesterday afternoon. Ever since then, the Fitbit app has been in a constant loop of trying to install and giving me an error message asking me if I want to continue. No matter if I choose to stop or continue installing, the loop never ends, nor are the apps installed. I have already turned off and full turned off/on my ionic. Thoughts?

Sounds like the installation was interrupted and now the phone app is trying to resume the installation. Try turning your Ionic off and then go into the phone settings and then into the Fitbit app and clear the cache. If that does not work trying uninstalling the Fitbit app, reboot the phone and then reinstall the app.

Thanks...tried all of that and the app is still in that loop. Any more thoughts?

The plot thickens! Looking for more punishment, I tried to download a few more apps. One got through and onto my watch while two others continue to spool with my original two problem children...

Any solution to this problem? I have the same problem with the Stava app and the clock face. My Ionic clock face has not displayed anything for the last 3 days waiting for a solution to this thread.

Hello @chrisionic1 and @Bullit.

I'll be happy to help out.

The first thing I'd like to ask is how many apps are installed on your watches? It is important to note that the watches can hold up to 39 different apps so that could be what is causing the apps to not be installed. Maybe you could try uninstalling one app and then try the installation again.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I have never been at that limit for apps (max was 30 at one time) Nope. No real solution. I contacted customer service and explained that apps were stuck in a loop and causing crashing. They sent me out a new watch because it was under warranty still. Pretty pleased at the ease of communication on their part as it was a simple process overall and they did a great job sending it out on time. However, this NEW replacement ionic updated to the NEW firmware is still is experiencing problems. Now occasionally when I sync my watch it will randomly restart itself mid sync. Apps aren't stuck installing...yet

Ok I think I found a solution.. look on your fitbit and there is a clock app.. choose a face for your clock and this should fix the endless loop.. worked for me

This worked for me too! Unbelievable. I tried to install a third-party calculator app at the same time as the Fitbit News app, and both got stalled in a perpetual loop (the same as described by OP). I had no more than 10 apps installed on my Fitbit, so it has nothing to do with the number of apps despite the moderator's suggestion. Clearing cache did nothing. Uninstalling the app, restarting phone and watch and reinstalling app did nothing. The loop miraculously regenerated each time.. In desperation I followed @Dblack7211 suggestion and went to the faces app on my watch and chose an new face and miraculously both installations went through. I uninstalled the third party calculator app, which I assume was the catalyst for the malfunction.
