The screen of my Fitbit ICONIC went blank a few days after downloading the latest firmware (using iOS). Tired switching it off and on a few times but remained blank

@Woopf A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community. Thanks for getting in touch about this.

I appreciate that you tried turning it off and on. I would like you to try a restart and check the display behavior after this.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

I did everything you recommend in your Support advices. This is different and very serious.

Reading all the posts it sounds like the update damaged the devices. That means Fitbit has to fix it or to replace it. because your be doing is the reason - Fitbit will have an insurance for that case.

Probably no good start with Google

Thank you for the advice but it didn’t work
I pressed the back and bottom buttons but the screen remains blank, no Fitbit logo, though there was a vibration when pressing the back button to restart.
At this moment the watch is still recording data.
Please advice

Thank you for the support. Nicole advised me to change the clock face via the app and I tried that. There was a vibration, yet no sign of it appearing on the screen. It is still a hazy light grey emptiness. Tried all the other ways you have mentioned, back and bottom button together, etc, etc. But still nothing happened. The watch is still recording my activities though, sync ok....I cannot do the shutdown as I cannot access the settings on the clock face.

Pse advise. Thanks again

What ever you do, do not complete a factory reset on your device. I did and then quickly got a " Here is a 35% coupon to buy a new fitbit."

I have all the same indications, sometimes grayish screen,  sometimes looks like it is trying to restart, but nothing on the screen. Please let me know if someone comes up with a fix!

Hi everybody, this morning - 1 and 1/2 weeks after my watch went completely black, I tried to charge my watch again. So far was there no reaction but this morning it said 0 %. So it is still alive and several minutes later came to more life.  Exactly with the time when it “died” 3rd September 21:00.

Now I will see how it continues.

The battery draining likely gave it an electronic/logic reset.

Good outcome, but shouldn't have to leave it to chance to bring it back to life!

Try not to let the battery drain down to near zero. Seems these batteries don't recover well from a full discharge. Although well designed electronics should shutdown before the battery fully depletes.

Yeah this watch is a very buggy device and the worse electronic one we have ever owned.  Because of all the forum reported bricked devices after trying various updates - we have finally decided to no longer risk ever updating again.  We will stay firmly on 70.7.14.

For those that have bricked devices contact customer support and request they send you a replacement.  For those that are offered a 25% discount on another device - get something else like a Apple or Garmin or whatever.

Really there is no need to suffer in Frustration - simply call Tech Support at 877-623-4997 and get your Ionic replaced right now while you can
Many have followed this straightforward advice and now have a replacement Ionic - we all should have “zero tolerance” for any defective Ionic

I was so so Glad when Fitbit decided to replace my supposedly faulty Iconic and it did arrive on 21 Sept. Setting it up was a Breeze but after 3 days, it just died. The charge on the screen showed red 0% though I have charged it and on app screen showed that it was fully charged.

AFTER that, no matter how, it refused to be charged again.
‘It is really disappointing. What can I do now?

The app shows a healthy battery charge, 83%. However, the watch shows 0%

Hi this is also happening to me, just started happening two days ago, I left it charging overnight, have tried the reset, the hard reset and tried changing the clock face.  Still blank screen but feeling vibrations and still syncing with my devices but I cannot see anything.

Do Not Do A Factory Reset No Matter What... Doing so deletes any proof that
the firmware caused the problem and FitBit will kindly send you a coupon
for another broken, refurbished, watch.
