Ionic stopped syncing to FitBit app

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Today my Ionic stopped syncing with the FitBit app on my iPhone. Bluetooth is on and it was connected to Bluetooth according to the phone settings page, but the Fitbit app would not sync. It would start the cycle and the spinning icon, but then just stop and not update any info. the watch itself appears to be working fine. I just cannot connect to the Fitbit app. I have worked through all the steps in the support pages and none have worked. My iPhone is updated to the to the latest iOS release. I had Bluetooth forget the Ionic. I deleted the Ionic from the Fitbit app.  I attempted to reinstall the Ionic through the Fitbit app and it kept reporting "Connecting to Tracker" but it never did. I deleted the app and reinstalled it and attempted to reinstall the Ionic.  Again, it reached the "Connecting to Tracker" page, but after 15 minutes it was still there.  Not sure what my options are.  Very frustrating. Has worked fine for the past two months till today.

@BenSaunders Welcome to the Fitbit Community! Thanks for trying all of those steps in order to sort this out. Are you still experiencing the same?

There are a couple more things you can try to fix this kind of situations that you didn't mentioned, make sure you have done this too:

  • Restart your Ionic.
  • Reset Bluetooth (turn it off, wait 10 seconds, turn it back on).
  • Log out from the Fitbit app, reboot your phone, log back in to the app.
  • Force quit the app and try syncing.

Please try those steps too if you haven't done so already!

Bingo.. Worked for me. It will be nice when everything works without going through this.

tried to respond, but the auto correct of this page would not let me post.  Resetting the watch was the key to solving the problem.

I seem to be having the same problem... This is the 3rd time in less than a month that I have had to follow the instructions in this link... even though it says that the problem was resolved apparently the problem is still happening as this is the only think that forces the ionic to sync again... at least for a few days or so then back to no syncing again... very frustrating indeed.

After trying all those steps ionic is still nit syncing with portions of the app..... such as the weather portions or the settings for the clock face...... as the time was not automatically changing to the network time .... even with that setting selected. Thoughts?

Shutting down my ionic several times has solved the syncing issue.  On the ionic watch go to “Settings”, scroll down and select “About”, scroll down to bottom and select “Shutdown”.  Start ionic watch and it should now sync with iPhone or iPad.

I got my ionic in January this year and this is my second experience with the watch not syncing with the app. I have a Samsung S9. the app will not connect back to the wifi so it can connect to the watch. I am in my third hour of working on the connection problem and I give up. will turn off the watch and go back to wearing my watches that just tell me the time and date, but do not lock up and not restart. I have deleted the app from my phone. The first time it happened I turned off the watch, deleted the app and waited 10 days. when I restarted everything it was like new. now I guess I have to wait another 10 days for it to work again. not much of a product if you can't use it 10 days each quarter.

Same issue here. My Ionic has been working flawlessly up until yesterday when it stopped syncing, I noticed because the time was off by about 25 minutes.

I’m using an iPhone 7 Plus, and the Ionic shows up in Bluetooth, but won’t connect. So far I’ve done reboots of the phone, the Ionic, toggle Bluetooth, uninstalled/reinstalled the Fitbit app, removed device from my Fitbit account, and literally 5 factory resets and it always ends up in the same situation. This morning I tried one more time and it connected great throughout the setup process, but after it downloads updates and finishes the connection problems start.

Very frustrating to try so many different things and it just won’t work. Hopefully this is just a software issue and can be fixed with a patch.

On your Ionic go to Settings, then scroll up until you find About. Now while in about scroll all the up until you find Shutdown. Now select that and shutdown your watch. wait for it to shut down, wait about 15 seconds then press the button on the left, your watch should come back on and sync with your I Phone. I did mine yesterday and it obviously worked. Good luck.

Same here lmao, I had lost my yesterday steps, goodbye to my beautiful weekly graph.... OMG, today's steps could be seen in app but not in website, until I switched OFF and ON my Ionic and after 5 minutes it finally synchronized....

There should be a log in the very same Ionic so you could see the statistisc without checking the website or app.

without losing data.

Thank you.  This is my third fitbit over three years and even though I love the Ionic, I was ready to send it back.  I always have a sync problem with my Galaxy S7 and tried numerous times and different methods to sync, but never the sequence you recommended. It actually worked, but I should not have to go through this each time.

I have the same issue frequently with my Ionic (and my Blaze before). I frequently shut it down for the night. When I restart it in the morning, it doesn't synchronize with my phone, Huawei Pro 20. I have to restart phone/watch many times before it syncs back again. Very annoying.
