2 years and 1 month in, my Ionic has had it. Sure, a few annoying bugs along the way, but I really loved this watch, especially for triathlon training and syncing with the Aria scale. But a short life span. Tracking stopped working, tried resetting, going back to factory settings, calling support. Only option is to buy a new one. Would expect a longer life than 2 years.

Bummed, sorry to hear about your Ionic. Mine is the same age as yours and as I've discussed in other threads on this forum I've experienced two other Ionic "deaths" where the device appeared to have died. On both occasions either with some tech support assistance or just benign neglect and re-trying some of the suggested fixes (charging overnight, two and three button 20+ second holds, and such) the device was revived.
Case in point; have not been using my Ionic this week (using another tracker) and it has been sitting on my dresser and turned on. Yesterday morning it was showing ~70% battery life but when I looked at it last night before bed the screen was blank and when I pushed the left button I got a large battery icon showing "0%" for a second then nothing. Put it on the charger overnight. This morning the screen was still black. I did the two button reboot twice and the boot up logo appeared and then the clock face displayed but the battery only showed 5% charged. I put it back on the charger and a moment later it said 7% so apparently charging...when I checked again about 3 minutes later it showed 100%! It now seems to be back to normal. What happened? Don't know but this sort of bizarre behavior is the norm from my observations. So, don't give up the ship just yet.
My other tracker is a Garmin Vivoactive 3; it has very similar features as the Ionic and after about a year of ownership I must say it's way more reliable and is virtually glitch free. It's not a elegant as the Ionic but if reliability is your concern you might want to give it a look. Best of luck.

Mine just stopped working suddenly, in very similar fashion. Steps have stopped advancing, and the heart rate monitor no longer displays BPM.
The rest of the Ionic functions still seem to work.
I've tried restarts, charging, and other fixes suggested here.
My first Ionic died due to water exposure, but this one has been solid.
Is there a last ditch effort to resuscitate it?
Really bummed. There's a lot to love about Fitbit, but this seems an awfully premature death.

My Fitbit died in December of 2019 due to a Fitbit firmware update. They replaced it with what they are telling me a new Fitbit Iconic (Refurbished) which had worked for 1 1/2 months before turning into a dead brick. I called last week to customer service overseas as they do not have USA support only to be turned down for a replacement due to Fitbit software update. Brian (Supervisor) gave me a case # 34411982 and he told me to not expect a return call or e-mail reply from Fitbit. Battery stays at 0%. How is that for customer service. Good Luck !

This happend to me 1 week after upgrading to the new firmware. The battery died yesterday, and the screen never came back up. I can feel all the vibrations, but nothing works. Resetting, restarting didn't fix the issue..
I'm definitely sure that this is related to the latest firmware.

Fitbit always claim it is a software glitch and they are working on a fix.....
I had FOUR surge trackers fail and THREE ionics. They always tell you it is 'software'...
But, they replace your tracker and don't ask for the faulty one back - why ?
Surely they could investigate the error or even recycle the case. But they are not interested in taking the item back. So I suggest the trackers have little value. If they cost a lot to make they would not be willing to throw SEVEN away....it would not make economic sense...

That's consistent with my timing as well, for both the firmware and app.
Something is not playing nice between the two.
