Ionic stops during a run

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Recently my ionic is taking ages (5mins+) to lock on to gps and during my last 4 runs it has randomly suddenly stopped tracking altogether! One was during a race which was really anyoing not knowing my pace or how far I’d run etc😡. Any ideas please? Because at the moment it is not fit for purpose. It’s only 6 months old! TIA.

Hi @Jonty-123, it's great to see you here in the forums! I'll be glad to help on this.Cat Happy

The battery of the Fitbit Ionic has a battery life of 5 days and GPS can reach 10 hours. Consider also that battery life and charge cycles will dependent on usage. To learn more about this, I recommend this article  Can I improve my Fitbit device's battery life?

To continue, when you select a GPS exercise, if the Ionic doesn't find a signal immediately, keep in mind that environmental factors including tall buildings, dense forest, steep hills, and even thick cloud cover can interfere with your watch's ability to connect to GPS satellites. For best results, wait for Ionic to find the signal before you start your workout. However, if you don't want to wait you can start your workout and GPS tracking begins when Ionic finds a signal.

Note that Ionic uses your step count to calculate distance until it finds a GPS signal. In this scenario, your total distance calculated for the workout may be slightly less accurate than if GPS data were available for the entire duration. For more information, see  How accurate is GPS?
