I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have had my Ionic for 2 weeks now and still have troubles with syncing. Everyday. I open the app and will try to sync but it won't. I have to restart my watch, force stop the app, switch my bluetooth on and off a number of times before it will sync properly 😞 It usually takes around 15 minutes to get it to sync. Is there a way to fix this issue? It's starting to get frustrating.

Mine was syncing fine until two nights ago. Now it hasn't successfully synced again.

Having same issue and have to deal with it for weeks. Very disappointed that Fitbit does not seem to be acknowledging or looking into this widespread issue (at least from what I can tell).

@LauraRoxane @nicnack What phone, what platform and what version of the App. A few of us who haven't had issues with syncing are trying to establish a commonality.

I've had issues synching mine. It won't sync unless I tell my phone to "forget" my device or my phone is fully charged.

Same here.. all the workarounds offered are temporal solutions - they last for a few hours and then the issue is back.. so so so frustrating!!!!!

Apple phone 7. Bluetooth and WiFi on Iconic is a constant problem. I wish I had never bought it.

I have the same problem. I’ve just landed in India from the UK and tried to sync to get the correct time on my watch. It tries to sync but stops. I’ve done everything the troubleshooting suggests but nothing works! Can anyone suggest anything else? Very frustrated!!

Every Fitbit I've owned has had syncing issues to some degree or another.... especially as they've changed the Android/iOS mobile apps over the last year or so. Things have gotten substantially worse, especially for the more complex trackers.
I've found my surge syncs fairly reliably if I give it plenty of time when I open the app. It syncs in 2 stages and can take almost 2 minutes to complete the sync. I often get the Bluetooth warning but it never affects the sync.
If I try and rush the sync it will fail every time. Also I need to make changes for my surge through the Fitbit.com dashboard, the changes don't work through the Android app.... although they do for my flex :-[
I'm just adding this because although I don't have an Ionic, I am seeing very similar issues to what I'm dealing with, and the app and form of communication between the devices is similar. I do have notifications turned off as well as all day sync and always connected.

I don't have any solutions, but mine also stopped syncing over 24 hours ago (Nov 10). I have spent the last 2 hours doing all the normal problem solving steps: remove tracker from account, reinstall app, turn bluetooth off/on, attempt to add tracker back on to account. It keeps getting stuck right after I enter the 4 digit bluetooth connection code.
Very frustrating because I have a half marathon in the morning, and it looks like I'm stuck with my Alta and old Garmin.
I really thought they fixed all this with the fitbit app update.

Today the Ionic has synced every time I have dragged on the Dashboard to sync. I did that more times than normal to see why..... even with no extra steps.. it didn't falter.
My home environment hasn't changed, I have my Bluetooth hearing aids on , WiFi around the house, the phone is next to my computer and the dongle was in the computer. I have an active Surge on the other side of the laptop computer.. Also the TV with active Bluetooth. So the total environment we tend to suspect.
So what may have occurred that is different. I still wore the Ionic 24/7, above average Spring temperatures. All I have done this morning is switch the phone on which was fully charged .... AND... the Ionic shows 83% battery at 9pm.. It was fully charged when I went to bed.. I lose 1%/hour when I sleep which brings the charge down to 91% and today has been a domestic day and no planned activity so another 8% over 11 hours..
The battery shows high on both Dashboards.
I will keep an eye on the batteries, keeping the phone full charged and let the Ionic gradually lose battery and see what happens. Then take it in turns between phone and Ionic.
I'm not saying this is a solution but today is the first day for over a week I haven't struggled with Syncing.. Maybe lazy Sunday in Melbourne and I also have line of sight of my 4G mobile tower (155m) and always show 100% strength on the Android.
I feel my syncing issues started when I moved onto the 2.6x App upgrades. But today a perfect day
So one last sync before I post this and that lovely blue bar cycled across the top and in less that 30 seconds the Dashboard on the computer displayed, Last sync: Just now.. No dongle in the computer.

@Ksmit99999 Even yesterday I was waiting up to an hour to get a successful sync.. Syncing, error syncing, looking..grey wheely..... Then it would do a partial sync.. Up to the computer and nothing back to the phone.. Eventually, as I would watch the battery drain, it would show on the phone.. Friday morning my phone battery on awakening and switching the phone on.... drained 9% after my emails.... and that was just the continual attempts to sync.
I'm not out of the woods... Just my observations today and that's what retired engineers do.. look at our baselines..

My luck... sort of ran out this morning.. On awakening, switched on phone and for nearly 10 minutes tried to sync the Ionic.. No luck... Just watched the phone battery start to lessen.
I restarted the Ionic and it synced immediately and started to show Connected and has continually synced since when tapped.
Battery now 75% on the Ionic and 87% on the phone.

I had good days with syncing, I've had bad days. More bad than good across both a Galaxy S8 and then a Note8. Strangely, my Blaze, which didn't work at all with the S8 works now works with the note.
I would also watch my battery drain as my phone attempted to sync with the Ionic. When it was successful, it took a long time to complete.
One of things that did help me was deleting my other fitbit devices from the app. I made it Ionic only. This was not a silver bullet, but it helped some.
The issues would return, unfortunately.
I turned off things like all day sync and so on. I've tried various suggestions to no avail. At least not a permanent one.
For now, I've returned the Ionic. This coupled with some strange issues measuring heart rate data lead to the difficult decision. I will fall back on my older trackers from Fitbit and keep an eye on the forums to see if a fix comes through. If it does, I will repurchase without hesitation.
At this time, I can't justify the $300 price tag. New tech has its quirks for sure but it's still a bit too rough around the edges for me.
