Hi, I've had my ionic over a year now. It has worked perfectly until this week.
Today and Thursday my fitbit is giving me 26,000 steps before I even move.
It's not my settings or counting too many steps cause I'm restless sleeping etc. because I haven't changed anything. It is just giving me 500x more steps than I've got.
That's got to be programming or the app or something cause until 2 days ago it worked perfectly and I've changed nothing.
I've seen people posting inaccurate step issues but this is not that. This is 26,000 steps for nothing and then once I get moving it adds to the 26,000 accurately.
I've rebooted my phone and turned my fitbit off and on.
Has there been an update or....??
I love my fitbit so this is really disappointing 😞

Hi Ricardo,
Manually changing the steps worked. It took a little experimenting to find the time my fitbit logged the steps.
Nice to know if this happens again I can at least get rid of the excess steps....right after I go win all my bingo games 😁😉.

Hi @Susibug7, it's nice to see another post from you here in the Community Forums.
I'm sorry to know that you're experiencing difficulties with your Fitbit Ionic step-count but thanks for trying some troubleshooting steps before posting over here. To better assist you with this situation, can you please let me know when was the first time you experienced this situation and how many times since then? Only the step-count is being affected or other stats like floors and heart rate too? Are you using your device on your non-dominant hand? More details will be appreciated so we can move on. In the meantime I receive your answer, you can delete the steps that were incorrectly tracked following the steps that are specified on this help article.
Looking forward to your reply.

Hi Ricardo,
Thank you for responding. Dec 10th was the first day this happened. Dec 12th was the only other time. So only twice to date.
Steps are the only thing being affected. Well except the mileage and and calories are calculated based on the excessive steps so high as well.
Yes using it on my non dominant hand. Today was a normal day. Hoping tomorrow will be normal as well and this doesn't repeat every 2 days 🙂
Thank you for the info re. Changing the steps. I tried but couldn't find a way to do it.

Hi there, I know this is a little out of time but yesterday I went to bed and my Ionic and app both agreed on just over 15,000 steps. Have logged in today to find suddenly I apparently did 213,977 steps yesterday. Susibug7 who originally started this topic said that it had added 26,000 steps but to add 198,000 and over night is a little drastic. I read that she manually changed the steps. How do I do that?

Got it fixed. Somehow had managed to add an exercise overnight (I was asleep, it wasn't me) and it logged the extra 198,000 steps. Deleted the exercise and steps dropped back down to 15,000.
